Tel Arad has a long history and played a key role during the times of the Canaanites and Israelites.
DONATE: www.paypal.com...
TOUR TRIPS TO ISRAEL BY TODD FINK: www.holylandsi...
BOOKS ABOUT ISRAEL BY TODD FINK: www.toddmichae...
Location
1. Tel Arad is in the Negev about 16 miles (26 km.) east of Tel Beersheba, and 33 miles (54 km.) south of Jerusalem.
2. Tel Arad covers an area of about 100 acres (40 hectares) and is on the west side of Hwy 80.
3. Although this part of the Negev receives little rain, Arad is strategically situated on ancient trade routes.
Historical Background
1. Tel Arad has two major settlement periods, a Canaanite and an Israelite period. The lower part of the tel is from the Canaanite period and the upper fortress part is from the Israelite period.
2. The Canaanites were the original settlers of Arad and established a large city here around 3500 BC. It had an estimated population of approximately 2,500 residents.
3. Israel captured Arad in the conquest under Joshua. Later, in around 940 BC, an Israelite settlement was established here.
4. Because Tel Arad is so strategically located and important, it was destroyed and rebuilt 6 times from the 9th to the 6th centuries. It was most likely destroyed in 701 BC by the Assyrians and again by the Babylonians in 587 BC.
5. Over 100 pottery shards (Ostraca) were discovered at Tel Arad dating to the 7th and 6th centuries BC. Two of these are of great value as they mention two people from priestly families in the Bible, “Pashhur” from Ezra 2:38, and Meremoth from Ezra 8:33.
6. Two other pottery shards found at Tel Arad have written on them the name Arad, which confirms the identification of the city.
Places of Interest
1. Canaanite City
City walls
City gate
Temple
Palace
City Well
Homes
2. Entrance to Tel Arad
3. Upper parking - Easy access to the Fortress Mound
4. Israelite Fortress at Tel Arad
Although there was a small settlement during the time of Solomon, it was during the divided kingdom period that a fortress was set up at Tel Arad. The fortress served to protect Judah’s southern border against its enemies.
The southern area of Judah was dangerous, and the fortress at Arad was destroyed 6 times during the divided kingdom period.
It is likely that one of the destructions of the fortress occurred during Hezekiah’s reign when he rebelled against the Assyrian King,
Sennacherib, in 701 BC. Scripture recounts how all the fortified cities of Judah were destroyed at this time (2 Kings 18:13).
The fortress was rebuilt but destroyed again as a result of Nebuchadnezzar’s conquest of Judah in 586 BC.
During the Hellenistic period of the 3rd to 2nd centuries BC, a tower was built in the center of the fortress compound. During the Persian, Hellenistic, and Roman periods, the tower was repaired and used as a military post. During the early Arab period, the structure served as an inn for caravans.
The fortress was finally abandoned in the 10th century AD.

5. Israelite Temple at Tel Arad
Arad had a functioning temple during the time of the divided kingdom that was somewhat similar to the temple in Jerusalem.
The temple at Arad was forbidden by God because the Israelites were to worship at no other place but Jerusalem at this time (Deut. 12:5-6).
Outer Court
Altar
Holy place - In Scripture, the holy place was a long rectangular room. At Arad, it is a wide rectangular room.
Altars of Incense
Holy of Holies
Dimensions of the Holy of Holies - In the tabernacle God ordered Moses to erect, the required dimensions of the Holy of Holies were to be 10 cubits by 10 cubits (15 ft., 9 m.) (Ex. 26:31-33). In Solomon’s temple, the Holy of Holies measured 20 cubits by 20 cubits (30 ft., 9 m.) (1 Kings 6:16).
When the second temple was rebuilt under Ezra, the measurements of the Holy of Holies of Solomon’s temple were kept.
The Holy of Holies at Arad measures about 7 ft. by 7 ft. (2.13 m.), much smaller than the Tabernacle of Moses and the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem.
Standing stones - There are two standing stones in the Holy of Holies. One represents Yahweh and the other, Asherah, a false female god. This shows the worship of false gods mixed with the worship of God. Clearly, this was strictly forbidden.
According to archeological data, the temple in Arad was destroyed during King Josiah’s reign in about 630 BC (2 Kings 23:4-20). It’s possible, though, that the temple could have been removed by King Hezekiah under his reforms (2 Kings 18:22).
However, the worshipers at Arad refused to tear their temple down and covered it over with dirt instead.

The starting lesson about the Kings is that the people followed them. If there was a wicked king like Manassah then he led Judah into idolatry. A good king like Josiah would destroys the idols, the Asherah poles and places of false worship and the mixing of worshiping YHWH and false Gods. The people followed. Luckily Judah had several righteous Kings. The same cant be said of the 10 Northern tribes. Let's not follow wicked leaders but be part of God's righteous remnant, which have existed throughout history. It appears the righteous are mostly a small minority. What a great story of Josiah the boy king. Thank you for this amazing teaching. It is so real when you see the actual places. It touched my ❤ heart. Praise God.

I believe if we genuinely raise our children in the ways of the Lord, they will never depart from it. Not just boring church going but exposure to the power and the word of God in action. That was what bought me back from sin as a young woman. God reminded me what I saw,heard and experienced as a child going from sunday school,to tent revivals, to healing and deliverence crusades.

Beersheba is a 3 day journey to tel arad just like Gen 22. It would be a six day walk from Beersheba to modern day Jerusalem.
@HolyLandSite
@HolyLandSite 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment but let me present the facts to you. From Beersheba to Jerusalem is about 40 miles (60 km.). A person walking or riding an animal would only need to travel about 13 miles each day to go from Beersheba to Jerusalem. A normal person walking 3 miles an hour would only have to walk 4-5 hours to travel 13 miles. It is extremely easy to travel from Beersheba to Jerusalem in 3 days. So you are very wrong in your statement. Did you watch the video to see the evidence for why Tel Arad is not Jerusalem? The temple layout is different, there is no Mount of Olives, there is virtually no evidence and archaeological remains that supports Jerusalem as being in Arad. Additionally, the Bible is very clear that Joppa was the seaport used to supply Jerusalem and that there was a well-traveled road that linked the two. There is no such road to Beersheba and Beersheba is a long, long distance from Joppa.

@@HolyLandSite You didn't see Mt Olive because you looking for it to be close. Mt. Olive is a Sabbath day journey. Tel Arad fits the jebusite Jerusalem of old perfectly. You have to let the right person with the right information to take you around. The oldest relic with the House of YHWH was found in Tel Arad. If you get your hands on the Arad Inscriptions by Yohanan Aharoni on page 1 and paragraph 6, he tells you there that, thats Jerusalem. You might wanna check that out. Modern day Jerusalem is a hoax. Have you been to the sign of contradiction? The sign that has Zion going one way and the city of David going the opposite way is a total contradiction to what the bible say.

Haven't we all had our Josiah moment ? where we did the best we could with what the false shepherds gave us, but then we stumbled over the book of the law... we found it hidden somewhere, not in the churches we were going to ...but somewhere hidden in the wall ..then we read it and tore our clothes, realizing we had our hooves torn off, our meat stripped , and our bones thrown in a pile . Obedience is better than sacrifice.

I would like to correct a notation that appeared when viewing the "holy if holies" and the two standing stones, which said Israel recently removed one to asherah so we wouldn't look so bad. The second standing stone was removed for straightforward archaeological reasons. It had not been found in situ like the first stone (that is still there); it had been found in secondary use built into an adjacent wall. The original excavators speculated that the stone was from the sanctuary, so placed it there. Later archaeologists said this could not be proven, so it was removed.

Exodus 20:25 And if you will make me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of hewn stone: for if you lift up your tool on it, you have polluted it. May I offer a couple of possibilities? One possibility is that not all the Jews at the time of the second Temple believed that it had the same status of uniqueness for worship as the First Temple. This means that the First Temple was called the "House" and the other sanctuaries before that were called "Inheritance." So it is more than possible that these Jews or even earlier Israelites did not accept this explanation. However, the question still remains as to why all the kings before Hezekiah would have allowed it to exist? Well, they did not do much to eliminate the sanctuaries at Dan and Bethel either. Another similar possible relates to those who abandoned the Second Temple for the same reasons and established a sanctuary at Mt. Gerizim (which according to Samaritan tradition existed since the time of Joshua) or a sanctuary at Elephantine and in Egypt. There was a certain interpretation from Isaiah 19:19 that related to this. So there are several possibilities. If it were a totally Jewish pagan sanctuary in Arad, it would be assumed that it would have been destroyed since even the idolatrous kings remained loyal to the Temple of Jerusalem. Another possibility specifically raised in the Talmud in Tractate Menachot 109 suggests Isaiah 19:19 refers to the altar of the temple of Onias the son of Simon the Just, who fled to Egypt and built an altar there. His rationale would have also been that either the Second Temple was rejected for some reason by God or that it did not have the status of "House" which means that altars and sanctuaries could be built elsewhere.

There is an old map of old Jerusalem I saw not too long ago. I'm probably wrong but that Israelite Fortress looks a lot like the House of Eliashib The High Priest on the map. The City Of David is completely gone but would be somewhere near the city wall. Solomon's Temple is gone too but would be somewhere in the area where the entrance is. There would have been some kind cliff wall going up and another that looks like it would be going down if that makes sense. Also there is suppose to be a wide valley between the Mount of olives right? Wouldn't that make the Judaen Hills the Mount of olives. Never been but it seems like there are a lot of olive trees there. Also Jerusalem is suppose to be uninhabited till Gods people return. Modern Jewry is of Japheth's bloodline right? But the Children of Yah are from Shem? Ashkenazi comes from the word Ashkenaz right? Ashkenaz is from Japheth's bloodline. What if God's children haven't returned and Tel Arad is the real old Jerusalem. Doesn't the word say his people will build upon Jerusalem's heap. This looks like a heap to me. Something isn't adding up? Why are there soo many African people who have been practicing the laws , statutes and commandments of the Torah. You have the Lemba, the Igbo, the Bamileke, Fon, Yoruba, and many more. The Most High said his people carried his name. A lot of of the enslaved from the trans Atlantic slave trade had yah and el in their names and are from the tribes a mentioned above. Also there are old maps that show the Kingdom of Juda in West Africa before the slave trade. There is also a great split where ten of the twelve tribes of Israel separated from Judah and Benjamin. also Levi clung to Judah. That whole area where the Kingdom of Judah was, had the name negroland. I don't know but something seems fishy. Something isn't adding up. All in all this was a cool lesson, thanks for sharing.

@@HolyLandSite8:43 You should study the history during the time of titus rule that brought down the temple. Jesus said not 1 stone will be left upon another. That means Jerusalem is a heap of ruin. Later on during the 15th century the Romans and Arabs buried the place so that the Israelites will not return. Those buildings was dug up from the pile of sands.

Pastor this reminds me how they doing it again in this days and how they want to mix God almighty with their gods by bringing One World Order and this is not right before our God Is totally wrong

@HolyLandSite
@HolyLandSite 3 жыл бұрын
It has been removed in recent years but was there in years past. It appears the Israeli government did this so it wouldn't appear as if their ancestors were so bad.

It seems to me that the issues with the money are also tied to Jesus as a foreshadowing of the issues that Jesus will suffer with the money changers in the Temple at Passover before the Crucifixion...dts/usa

Prophetic words are out saying all will be well, while others are saying... judgement. Either may be true. What I know... I serve the Living God that is in control of everything... He has given us every power that Jesus has & the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead & dwelt in Him, dwels in us. So it's time we used the power in us - by and through Jesus to fight the war we are called to fight. No longer do we pray..."Lord, please do this or that", but we pray with authority given us...as if Jesus were saying it! We PROCLAIM the Word of God at the situation (like Jesus when tempted). Ie:"Coronavirus, I have been given authority over all your power and I bind you in the name of Jesus & command you to stop this attack on the U.S.A., leave this land! I send upon you a great storm of God's fiery arrows, covered in the blood of Jesus to destroy you & render your assignments null and void...I loose confusion on you & command you to flee this land. WE ARE POWERFUL IN JESUS!

Here is a lesson to learn from a Jew. Yahweh is not the God of us Israelites. He is the God that the apostate Israelites under Moses worshipped in the wilderness. In the wilderness at Mt. Sinia they worshipped this pagan god yahweh as the golden calf aka Baal.

the real Mt Zion David's tabernacle. The temple which was completely destroyed sat adjacent to David's tabernacle on Mt Moriah. There is no western wall left. Yeshua said that there will be no stone left.

@Mark Seymour The Tabernacle in Tel Arad has ocastras that mentions the only House of Yahweh. Tel Arad is the real Jerusalem. It is surrounded by mountains just like the bible says. The wall that you call the western wall in the fake Yerusalem is the wall of a Roman Fort. That wall does not date back to the time of King Solomon.
