Tel Lachish National Park

The legendary king of Assyria, king of the world made an epic battle against the Judean forces in this fortress within the foot of Judean hills. The battle was fierce and it is attested by the remains of weapons, scales of armor, hundreds of sling-stones, arrowheads, and archaeological and historical evidences. Tel Lachish, which borders on Wadi Lachish, is considered one of the most important archaeological mounds in the Judean Lowlands. It overlooks the ancient road from the lowlands to the mountains. In the Canaanites period and at the time of the Kingdom of Judah, Lachish was a key city in the region . Among the important finds on the mound: an Assyrian siege ramp, a Judahite palace and a Canaanite temple. At the foot of the mound are the farmlands of Moshav, Lachish, mainly vineyards, which preserve the cultural landscape of the mound throughout history.
