Man listen. M town and A town have always had a good relationship. Plenty of love. I'm from Memphis and when I moved to Atlanta they showed me nothing but love. And when yall come to the town I do the same. But I'm 36. This respect and comradery is mainly between people of my generation. We have to teach the younger cats mane. Not only about these to cities, but the south as a whole. All of the contributions are important. Yes the memphis sound is the prevalent sound in today's music but Atlanta played a part in that as well. When memphis music was purely underground, we talked about robbing, selling dope, pimping, devil shit and all kinds of shit. Atlanta was not only able to touch a bigger audience due to the fact that it's a bigger market, but some of their subject matter was more radio friendly. Now u had underground A town cats like Oomp camp and pastor troy, Sammy Sam etc., but I think a lot of those dance tracks really took that sound to the masses. Three 6 was doing it for awhile by then and really started to get more rotation on the radio due to different subject matter. Not changing but talking about different things that more people can relate to. But we must shout out Dj magic mike out of Florida. I remember being a kid in the M and hearing feel the bass 1, 2, and 3 all day. He was one of the first to put that heavy bass line in the tracks. And u can't forget Dj Squeeky. Squeeky is where the get buck, get cruck sound was really formed. Listen to his early mixtapes. Paul and Juicy tapes didn't sound like that back then and that's real. They incorporated the sound and became extremely popular. I got to give much love to B high for being real and showing love to the M. But the south as a whole is why that sound is the dominant sound in music today. Ball and G, Ugk, Tela, Scarface, Willie D, Outkast, Goodie Mob, Dungeon Family, Devin the Dude, Squeeky & The Family, Dj Zirk & 2 thick, Project Pat, Three 6 Mafia, Rap a lot, Suave house, No limit, Cash Money........Shit I'm tired of typing but I could go on. But B high that's rms (real man shit) [I'm trying not to use the n word anymore]. I subscribed.
