This looks great. I am looking at the same setup at the moment. I am a somewhat beginner looking for BC skis that works well all-round in the mountain. I will use for a mixture of touring/cross country and upward access climbs and downhill rides with stability and confidence in turns. I am going for Scarpa T4 and Voile 3 pin cable traverse bindings, and I am curious about the Madshus annum or Combat NATO from Asnes. Do you have experience with the annum as a cross country toring ski in addition to tele turns ? And do you think the same set up works well with the Voile 3-pin, or are they too wide? Bests

For the kind of touring, looking for turns, that I do, the T4 or the Scott/Garmont Excursion are the most appropriate boot for control and turning power. I prefer the voile hardwire 3pin or switchback bindings as I find the traverse spring cable provides too much resistance for kick & glide even on the loosest tension. I have the Madshus Annum/Karhu Guide skis and those bindings are a perfect fit for some touring and turning. I now have those skis mounted with NNN-BC and while they tour well, even with the most supportive nnn bc boots, Alpina Alaska BCs, they don't turn as readily as when they were mounted with the 3-pin cable bindings and used with T4s. I've not used the Asnes skis, but many people seem charmed by their versatility. In pursuit of the best turning within a few kms of my back door, I now mostly just ski wider, shorter skis like the Altai Kom. Let me know what you end up using. Cheers!

Pretty sick, Gus. Hey, I’ve been using a 145 Altai Hok for a couple years, with plastic telemark boot and 3-pin. Have you tried this ski, and if so, what’s your impression of it?

Yes, I've tried the Hok. They are fun and versatile; better climbing than my Kom skis but Hoks have a stuttering glide that takes some getting used to. I'm always looking for more glide and turning opportunities in the often marginal eastern snow conditions, so I'm partial to the Kom ski experience. Check out the 1234maceo channel at kzbin.info/door/24-VzNo8PJku6oeGzdkITw to see the Koms in action - I couldn't do that with Hoks. Thanks!
