Telescopic actuator from ordinary one

The original actuator includes a beige base and a pink slider.
The second slider (jade) is connected to the pink slider via belt drives.
The yellow pulleys are rotated on the purple bars which are fixed to the pink slider. Each belt has one branch fixed to the base (with a brown gripper) and the other to the jade slider (with a jade gripper).
The jade slider moves twice faster than the pink slider.
The grippers are arranged to ensure that the thrust is along the axis of the actuator, so the belts rotate in opposite directions.
The belt drives can be replaced by cable or chain drives.

hi, great one again. similar mechanism but different application.. but i have a question. why you fixed the belt different direction on both side to make the pulley rotate in opposite direction in both side. (i mean it is not mirrored)

The explanation is in the video description: "The grippers are arranged to ensure that the thrust is along the axis of the actuator, so the belts rotate in opposite directions." Forces along the chain branches are mirrored around the actuator axis.

Neat, but im worried it wont be very strong. Maybe using a rack and pinion based method is stronger? (Actuator moves pinion, one rack is fixed, other rack is output)
