It`s hell sometimes to be mechanically inclined and financially strapped.. it makes us think more.. and more and more.. thanks for being informative. It cleared things up.. too many projects makes scattered brained.. again thanks..

Could this be modified so the lift extends, grabs on a handle and then lifts a whole robot about 10 cms off the ground?

Is there a design out there using these principals for a lift that can bear weight?

pop-up campers use it to lift the roof with a winch they are made of steel channel which is harder to see what's going on inside that's where this video helps. You can lift more weight by increasing the sizes and thickness of all the components, or using components of harder material rated for more weight. Careful about anything lifting weight have safety measures in place and check for wear over time.
