@@theodorus956 debate is abt convincing the judge. You don't feel facts as you feel stories and analogies. That's why the best debaters use a blend of not just logos and ethos, but also pathos.

@@jeongminkimlucian yea it's all about balance. You can sound great but be saying absolute bs, or u can sound bad but be spitting facts. sometimes the analogies don't work but a blend of everything is usually the most persuasive. imo this was a rly good topic and both teams performed rly well

I feel like I am the only kid watching this stuff but at the start "Fellow wizards and muggles" added a sense of humor to the speech. And the wand thing too. I joined the school debating club this year actually and am trying to get some inspiration and motivation for our competion.

majority of it is extemporaneous. we don’t debate by writing out every word we’re planning to say, nor complete sentences. it’s probably just a few key words or a thesis level claim they’re aiming to make

I think both sides were absolutely great. Singapore won because they were slightly better, and maybe a little bit more because the motion was biased at the first place.

So the debate came down to a 0.5 differential and yet Singapore won by an 8-1 split? There's no way the debate was that close if Singapore won by a resounding landslide.

It's clearly singapore's side's win, becaues england haven't discuss how by changing this policy help the most vulnerables stakeholders in this debate, there're no analysis how why the restrictions are necessary; singapore discuss the vulnerables and solid reaosn how they help the laborers, addionally they discuss about why is it principally wrong on prop's side.

In the parliamentary system of debate you can, its called a POI(point of information)

In formal debates. (As far as i know,) you can raise POIs (Points of information) for the debater to ‘whack’ and knock them down during their speech

nah kaya gini dong yg dibahas hal penting dan byk full ga dipotong potong yg bisa menimbulkan salah penafsiran.kalau indonesia medianya dipergunakan seperti ini bahas hal penting kan byk orang yg ikut terbantu dan mengedukasi .bukan yg spt berita dan acara tv sekarang yg dibahas malah gaya pakaian istri presiden dan statusnya satu per satu hal itu kan ga bagus dan publikkan spt di bodoh bodohi saja menampilkberita dan acara tv sekarang bikin malu aja yg disajikan bukan apa yg dibahas dlm g20 melainkan gaya tampilan busana istri presiden atau status pendidikan istri presiden . jgn menilai orang dari luarnya saja itu termasuk hal yg tdk baik untuk publik dan tdk penting untuk dibahas dan dibesar besarkan. apa kalian ga kira kalau negara lain mengecap netizen indo jd berakhlak buruk karena sumber dr berita dan acara tv yg menampilkan hal yg tdk penting dan remeh temeh di besar besarkan . jadilah netizen yg selektif jgn ikut arus berita dan acara tv yg tdk bagus untuk ditonton dan hanya memikirkan views yg besar biar byk pemasukan bukan mikirin bantu menolong orang lain lewat media .an hal yg remeh temeh dan tdk penting untuk dibahas.

I’m quite sure he stuttered and meant “scapegoating” rather than the sake cake. Scapegoating minorities would be blaming them for something they didn’t do, and shifting the blame towards a certain group of people.
