Also, staying relevent with the age range you are applying for is very important! This is a great video! Always read the job desciption to also know what questions to ask.

One thingI did in my interviews is have copies of all of my letters of recommendations and education that they can keep. I also had a résumé at the top The résumé was printed on paper that had baby hand and foot prints on. It really stood out amongst all the other information that was in my packet. It was very cute as well I thought the parents would like the baby and hand print paper.

What if you are wanting to start out and don’t have any experience other then your own kids? I understand nothing personal so no talking about your own kids and experience. So if you haven’t worked in a while how would one go about talking about experience if you are trying to start out with nannying?
@TheNannySolution Жыл бұрын
We suggest getting other experience. Volunteer at the school, coach a sports team or babysit. That way you have other experience to reference. At the agency we do not work with people who do not have experience outside of their own family. This is an old video but it is still helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHjXfJWjdrSKg7s

Hi I was also wondering as far as being professional goes what are some good guidelines for cell phone usage as far as being a baby sitter/nanny goes? Rules ? What if the family did not give you any rules or discuss that with you? Is it okay to be on your phone or use it if the baby is sleeping and that is considered like your break time too? That's what a lot of people do on breaks but is it differnt when your nanny esp for an infant? I don't know what's okay and what's not. I've been wondering so much about this in particular as well. Thanks so much for all your videos and support! I love this channel!
@TheNannySolution3 жыл бұрын
Great question. The best thing to do is talk to the family about their expectations and if they are ok with you using your phone while at work. Generally you should not be on your phone at work but if they child is sleeping taking a short break to check your phone is likely ok with the family. Sometimes nannies use the time when the child is sleeping to tidy up the playroom, wash bottles or give some one on one time to an older sibling.
@milysharko91643 жыл бұрын
This is so helpful. The family is very relaxed and casual about the cell phones but they prefer I always have mine on me or close by in case they need to contact. This is a great guideline! I love it. I think just keeping it short and to limit it to very minimal use is perfect. Great idea to tend to other siblings or help tidy up while the baby is sleeping. Thanks so much!

@@milysharko9164 Yes, many families do not have landlines anymore so keeping your phone close so they can reach you is important. Thanks for pointing that out.

Hi, a little something un- related but still relating to professionalism as a nanny. I was wondering if you could please help me out with something I'm having a hard time deciding. I'm a new nanny with a family, they are a good sweet family and we get along well so far! Lol I'm engaged and will be having a wedding next year, it's preety big news not something I can always hide since it's an actual wedding I'm taking time to plan. What is the etiquette on inviting the family? Do I give them an invitation? I know it's totally up to me but will they be offended if I don't? I'm worroed beacuse weddings are intimate but if I was it would just be to the reception which can have its intomate moments too. I'm just afraid that they might get offended or feel left out if I don't invite them beacuse they do ask me about the wedding stuff from time to time and get excited when I share. I try not to share to much though. Help! I am stuck. What if I want to get down on the dance floor and kiss my husband a lot that evening? They will be seeing me in a much more personal way. What will this do in the long haul ? Is it a big deal? Do I invite the family I work for to my wedding party?
@TheNannySolution3 жыл бұрын
Congratulations! That is so exciting. I wouldn't overthink it too much. If you have a great relationship with the family and you would like them at your wedding, you should invite them. if you are on a tight budget or feel uncomfortable with them being at the wedding, then don't invite them. You are not oversharing by inviting them to your wedding and them seeing you kiss your husband. I wouldn't expect anything else at a wedding!

What if the interviewer asks about your personal life!
@TheNannySolution2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the question. If they ask about if you have kids or are married it is not legal question (there are many personal questions you can not ask in an interview) and you can redirect the conversation. If they ask what you what you like to do in your spare time then they are likely trying to find out if you are a good fit for their family. Say something like "I love spending time outdoors but I am also happy to curl up with a book."
