"Age ain't nothin' but a number," is relevant because people age differently depending on their lifestyle, health, where they live, and genetics. But more importantly, most people can't guess other people's ages accurately. Just give them the leeway of about a decade and they'll guess a person's age group accurately most of the time. IMO, Teller definitely looks like he's in the early-60s to early-70s age group.

Especially in entertainment. You're the next big thing! You're the big thing! Then the only agents calling are collections. Thing I love about magic is even though I'm a rational (mostly) engineer, I love being tricked. I know it's a trick, but it still makes me grin. I've travelled a lot, and always love finding street performers & close-up magicians, and I guess that's also linked to keeping overheads low. Years ago, when I started my career, when suddenly overtime was regular and constantly available, sometimes even mandatory, and I was rolling in cash, my dad told me, "never live beyond your means, and never live on overtime. That well dries up with zero warning." Words to live by. Overhead low, expenditures stable, income consistent, and by all the gods and goddesses, save, Save, SAVE. Put money away. Try to keep at least half a years pay saved up if possible. Especially when things like Covid happened, I had that money put away, and even though my hours went through the floor, nobody in this house went hungry. No bills late, no freezer empty. Now I'm back to working more stable hours, even some overtime, and putting money back in savings. Words of Wisdom. Excellent work, and amazing magic!

I realized the other day that Fool Us is really P&T's way of giving back the success that they've had, to all the little people. It's full of heart and soul, unlike things like American Idol or whatever where it's all about laughing at the losers and watching then get cut down, and then being totally in awe of the rare few Idols. Fool Us is different. It isn't so superficial. There's a depth there. Everyone gets exposure, and even if they don't fool P&T they can still fool the audience and viewers and that's ultimately what counts. It's not about the trophy, that's a red herring IMO, but there is of course a certain fun that the challenge of striving to fool them adds to the show to where it would be boring otherwise just everyone seeing magicians come on stage over and over. It adds a little thrill to satisfy everyone's reptilian brain, but it's not the real point or purpose of the show at the end of the day.

Very first time hearing tellers voice. I remember first seeing you on fool us and was amazed how someone only a few years older than me was able to have so much talent and compete on the big stage. Great video and keep up the good work :)

@@KevinLimagic dude, you got Teller to talk.... that's real magic. 💯

The most amazing thing about hearing Teller's voice is how fast you forget about it being a thing, because what he has to say is so much more interesting than the novelty of hearing him say it.

This video is, first off, my favorite thing on the internet in this moment. Seriously, the framing, the atmosphere, the information, legend. Second, my favorite moment is actually the moment where you (Kevin Li) are showing your personality as a young, optimistic and (dare I say) a could-be arrogant man being given compliments by a more-established, comparatively "greater" man. For one shining moment, I saw a boy who KNEW he had it- and I really say "boy" only because of how young you look next to Tellar (sorry all involved!), I don't want you to feel immature or too young or anything less of yourself because you ARE NOT you are AMAZING- and I saw him take a moment, compose himself, and instead of talk about himself asked a question. I don't know all of why it was you did that. I do know that, whatever challenges you've been through that make you take that moment; I want you to know I noticed and.... It really was my favorite part.

I was lucky enough to neet Penn & Teller at a magic convention about 25 years ago. I had just seen them perform live a few days earlier. I went home and told my wife Teller has an incredible voice. Both Penn And Teller were very polite and pleasant when I talked with them. It's a thrill to find that out about two of your heroes!

10:12 I HAD A SNEAKING SUSPICION THAT SHIN HAD A HAND IN THIS! As soon as that emotional music came on during the bit, I was like "Holy crap, this music paired with this performance reminds me of Shin's performance" Edit: 10:56 Called it. The last part of your performance with the music was extremely emotional. It felt, in that moment, as if you in the audience had also went on this journey and it was coming to and end (just like the performance was), but you didn't want it to end because the journey thus far was so incredibly good. When I saw this Fool Us clip for the first time, I was on the verge of crying by the end of it and I imagine that's how the entire audience felt as well. Age aside, bravo on creating a magic routine that very *very* few magicians can manage to create and get the audience emotionally invested in.

OMG, you're standing next to a legend. Crazy thing is, you keep this up, you'll be making someone else feel the way Teller makes you feel in the future!

What you said about giving a trick meaning struck a chord with me. It's easy to get very caught up with very technical elements like proper misdirection, but the best misdirection in the world won't be worth much if you don't hook the audience in the first place. People like to watch something unbelievable so you will always be able to find someone to amaze, but giving them some kind of emotional investment just makes all the other responses so much more intense.

I truly believe the context and story gives meaning to all you do. I anyone watching to be able to relate in some kind of way through and allow the magic trick to be that middle point

Went to see P&T in Vegas, was super surprised they were hanging out after the show just talking to people. Teller was the one I flocked to because I had never really herd him speak publicly. What a wonderful guy, Pen was actually just as well spoken and super polite. It’s as though they have never met a stranger. Years later I caught their show again, and wouldn’t you know it, still hanging out after the show. I was already a years long fan but they way they both spoke to their customers really cemented, they love what they do. It’s a beautiful thing to see. I had similar experience with a few magicians over the years. The amazing Johnathon actually told me, magicians are your friends because they understand human nature on a different level. They spend more as much time studying people as they do tricks.

You aren't wrong about binging Fool Us episodes. It's been my saving grace as of late, but also recharged my interest in the craft. :D

It's kind of wonderful, but also very silly that people still think Teller never actually speaks. But of course he has a voice as natural as any other; it's just uncommon to witness him use it. Hearing his voice for the first time I hold very close to the first time I heard Harpo Marx's for the first time. There was something so very warming and fantastic about finally hearing their voices. Didn't ruin the act, but made it more wonderful to appreciate.
@kd86634 жыл бұрын
The funny thing though, is Teller sounds exactly as I would expect, but most people were so used to the goofiness of Harpo's character, that to hear such a deep and heavily New York accented voice was shocking for folks. Knowing his background, it's less shocking, but if you only knew his vaudeville character it was so discordant.

Wow!! I feel like it’s the business side of you that began this social media magic. But it’s your creativity and your dream. This is so cool! I agree with teller that yes finance is a issue but it’s not the same when you aren’t happy. It’s pointless. It’s better to find a job that you enjoy and just let the finance flow from your happiness. I’m still mind blown with magic. 😳 first off how.. and secondly wow.. you’re gifted.
