I told my mother to shut-up exactly ONCE when I was 12 years old 😮 She lightly slapped me across the face, and that was a lesson learned for life! She was not a violent person as a rule, which made her action all the more memorable

I am happy to see that some dads actually care enough to get up to address the disrespect. Others who just look annoyed or lie around looking unsure what to do would be a bitter disappointment for me. I want a man who will sternly correct this misbehavior as i would if the situation were reversed. This would never have been brushed off by my dad. He loved and protected my mother from anything that came out of my mouth he deemed disrespectful. I was a better parent because of how they raised me.

I once looked at my mother the wrong way and instantly regretted it. There is no way a Scottish Mother would put up with being told to shut up, this Scottish Mother would not.. 5:45 was the best reaction I’ve seen to this prank. Not abusive at all but while asking questions also making sure that it is understood that that behaviour is not tolerated. Very level headed response and still respectful to the child even tho they aren’t acting right. And calmly letting them know what the consequences would be if they did it again.

If I had ever said this I would be digging my own grave at the same time. I was never beaten but there were rules and boundaries. The one rule that would get your butt lit up was backtalking it was NEVER tolerated. If you disagreed you waited until the tension was over and explained and my mom and pops would listen.
