John, really appreciate you explanations and visualizations. Truly amazing. Since I found your page, I've been intrigued by cartography and data visualization. Thanks, watching all the way from Belize.

Love telling the truth with maps as you said maps are messengers. The ending of this video truly made my day ❤. I downloaded it and slowed down the last few seconds just to focus on your expressions😊!

Thanks, John. Have you found a way to create histogram legends in Pro similar to what you show on the bottom of the screen in this video? E.g., the legend not only indicates the color that represents a given class range but also the number of records that fall within that range?
@JohnNelsonMaps5 күн бұрын
@@pgault20 there’s not a great way to do this in Pro but I’ll put in a request. Would be a nice feature!

So speaking of legends, do you have a good video about making a legend. I would love to know some cool tricks. Been having trouble with them lately and I dislike the ArcGIS way of making them. Oh and why did you choose those colors?

Unlike most of your posts, this one was extremly dissapointing to me. It didnt explain what the different methods do to the data, especialy quantiles and natural breaks. Quantiles, for example, will highlight the extremes in your map at the expense of mid range data (or the opposite, depending on the data). Natural breaks classifies your data into inner-similar clusters, which in many cases is the most true and sensible way to map classified data. Automatic and robotic, yes, but created by humans to help make sence of large datasets. Its the default for a reason. The best advice from this video is to set the breaks yourself, but first use one of the methods as a base to do that. Thank you!

what of logarithmic?.

@@JohnNelsonMaps is logarithmic truly a style of its own or a subset of one of those you already mentioned?.
@JohnNelsonMaps14 күн бұрын
@@AmachiEligwe i would think of it as a modification of the equal interval method, but instead of equal, it's a logarithmic interval.
