Muhammed Muheisen is a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist. He has been documenting the refugee crisis around the world for over a decade and is the founder of Everyday Refugees Foundation.
Muheisen was born in 1981, graduated with a degree in journalism and political science. As the former Associated Press Chief Photographer for the Middle East, Pakistan and Afghanistan he covered conflicts across the region as well documented major events in Europe, Asia, Africa and the U.S. He spent four years in Pakistan as AP’s Chief Photographer for the region, and for the last several years has been documenting the refugee crisis across Europe. Most recently his work has focused on the issue of stranded unaccompanied refugee minors for the National Geographic Magazine.

muhammed muheisen is the only photographer who inspired me to become a photojournalist. so many unknown stories in the world that must be known, and a photojournalist can tell it. through photojournalists, photograph objects can tell a true story, about what's really going on out there. I am a student of Islamic economics. Islamic economics is different from the conventional economics that prioritizes the fulfillment of self-satisfaction. Islamic economics tells about how the welfare of all human beings can be fulfilled. I hope one day my pictures can tells the world about people's welfare, how the true story of poverty, the distribution of zakat, the use of waqf objects, orphan life, farmer life, etc.

Shiver of recognition. The opening sequence was taken in Idomeni, northern Greece, I was there much of late 2015 and early 2016, running an NGO and documentating what was happening. Intensely moving video
