I really love Emerson's Motivation for Spiral. Especially because of the scene that we were supposed to get. The directors considered a post-credits scene to include Tobin Bell. It was supposed to show the young Emerson meeting John, and John gave him a small Billy The Puppet. That motivated him, and would have been perfect to see in the actual movie.

Well many, like me, watch it for the convulated story, the plot twists, the score and the soap opera element (tho that has been missing lately, lookin at you Jigsaw and Spiral: FTBOS)

Can confirm, only watch them for the neat traps and the occasional clever twist. Even when the twist is bad, it’s usually so bad it’s good anyway. All you need to know is that the twist in almost every other movie is that there’s a new accomplice who has been in on it THE WHOLE TIME (with accompanying flashbacks to integrate them into the plot) a la Saw 2, 4, 6, 3D and Jigsaw. The rest are chronology fakeouts to make you think events are transpiring in the present/past when they aren’t actually a la Saw 2, 4 and Jigsaw. There’s also a bunch of “character was alive the whole time” reveals (Saw 1, 2, 4, 6, 3D, Jigsaw). The cops/investigators don’t really matter since they all only last about two movies tops. They discover the killer, but fall into a trap before they can prove it. Also, let’s be real, detective stories are a dime a dozen and the cat and mouse games don’t really matter ultimately. We know they’re never going to figure it out. Cause that would mean more work for the writers, and these movies had an annual release window.
