This TV is really funny. It is a bucketload of spec advertising (HDR and Dolby Atmos WTF?) while the bottom line is that this TV is a huge step down from a 2010 Bravia of the same size. Back in the day you got 1080p CCFL direct backlit, and these 2010 TV's do like 25 bucks today and are still delivering an incredible stable light distribution, colour gamut and deep blacks with 1:7000 contrast, which could be truly marketed as HDR. They have native 24/25/30/50/60p refresh rates, so all content motion looks good. Tons of connectivity, 4x HDMI, 2x SCART with RGB and Svideo, component, vga and composite, so you can hook up tons of consoles for example. This TV has a worse panel. The contrast is lower, the resolution abysimal, and the edge-LED is giving a less even lit picture, not as bad as some slimline models, but the small bezel has its effect. The price is steep (400€ in NL), surpassing the 2010 (original price 300€) if you buy at a local seller instead of at 0-margin Amazon prices. But the worst of the worst, it runs Android TV, you are basically locked out sans Google account and ditto snooping and advertisements. It is guaranteed for 8 years of software and 30000 hours of backlight. The old one will not get obsolete as it is a dumb-tv, and is rated for 60000 hours. So in 2030 the dumb one keeps rocking, and this will be trash. If you need smart on the old one, just grab a MacMini off a classified site, they are like 25 bucks, and you have all the streaming services and more, including a proper browser and with adblocking. And don't forget the fancy buttons... I don't want Disney + or Amazon Prime buttons ruining my clean Sony remote design.

I saw one at a shop and it had darkened vertical lines everywhere. Can't call it a 2021 TV if it's hella worse than my , now screen F'd up, KDL32-650W from 2013... Was looking to replace it with a X80L but it has the 4 corners darkened out. An OLED TV like the LG C2 would look great but near black chrominance overshoot on movies or anything is the most worrysome thing now So i'm trapped with a "Pick your poison" situation. I live in Europe btw, SONY's X85K is GONE and my needs would be a 42-43" TV. Anything bigger is a NO

Consumers somehow expect more for the same price, which in some areas they do get. I have a 32EX503 in the guest bedroom, a great set from 2010 with FHD panel, HD digital tuner, both of which most competing 32" models didn't have. It also has 4 HDMI, SCART (great for retro games) and produces a very nicely balanced picture with its CCFL backlight. In contrast the W800 has to provide a smart TV platform as well (the apps pre-Android TV Bravias were terrible and limited) but somehow cost the same or less. I would suggest people looking for a high spec 32" Sony to look at the Pro Bravia FW32BZ30J. 32" 4K, X1 processor, Android TV, all packed in a commanding professional video monitor style chassis. Unlike the other Pro Bravias, it seems to be the only one not based on an existing consumer Bravia set, making it even cooler pro.sony/en_GB/products/pro-displays/fw-32bz30j

Why this gets a F-label for energy use is a total puzzle to me. Can't find a more environmental friendly TV nowadays. It is super tiny and only uses 27W. You have OLED's with 100W that are graded better. Total bullocks to make energy labels relate to the size. This is the most environmental friendly TV you can get today. Period.

Yeah the energy labels were all reevaluated because everything was A+++, now nothing gets an A and everything looks bad
@lovemadeinjapan
@lovemadeinjapan Жыл бұрын
@@TellyDan I understand they re-evaluated things, but what I don't get is why tiny has no benefit over XXXL. A buyer of a 32 inch should be treated with a A label.

Depends on your use case. Remember TV's ask the computer for chroma subsampled HDMI output. So black on white text looks good, but other colours much less, as the colour bleeds to neighbouring pixels. And it is horribly low res, 1366x768 is kind of a 2007 10" netbook resolution blown up to 80cm.

It seems you glossed over recording from the guide. You cant, the only way seems to be setting a schedule from the quick settings menu which is awful. It says this in the manual. Its a right pain.

@TellyDan Yes, other TV's you just press record on the guide but not this one sadly. Its for a bedroom for us, so not a show stopper, but a big inconvenience. Very surprised at this with a Sony.
