I just tried this on a Nike Incyte match ball and it didn't quite work. I was able to replace the valve but had to cut away quite a bit of the cover to do it. Maybe it was just that ball but it was not easy. The hole where the valve comes out is tiny. It wouldn't surprise me if Nike made changing the valves on their soccer balls less than user friendly.

Same I’m trying to do it on the Nike Strike Premier league balls but the hole is so tiny it’s hard to fit the crochet needle in and take the valve out. Is there another way of doing it ?

Edgar, I have a high-end matchball, Telstar, that is thermal bonded. I was wondering if it is normal for the ball to deflate after a couple of days and when deflated t leak between seems? I also think it has a bad valve. thanks for the video!

Sounds to me like it’s the bladder of the ball that has already gone bad. I know there’s people out there that will fix them but they do go through an extensive process which in my opinion will never bring ball back to manufactured quality specs. But yeah I have a Telstar also which I have replaced the ball valve also. See some of my other videos for Telstar reviews and stuff if you are interested. Thanks!

just bought a jabulani for $160, seller said it held air fine, when it arrived it was leaking about 5psi/hr with a very clear leak in the valve. im gonna try this fix instead of returning the ball, i hope it works lol

Chris dip it in water to confirm leak. Good luck with it. 5psi p/h also sounds slow. Let me know if valve is not the problem and I have an alternative solution for you.

LJStone 08 I think it’s virtually impossible to get it out once it has fallen in. Your best bet is to just put a new valve in and ignore the one that has fallen in.

2pwsmith should be the same. Literally changed one on a 2015 ordem ball a while back. Yes certain valves that are purchased on eBay or amazon may be a bit long on outer side and may not look like an original valve but the inner layout of it should be the same and that’s the only thing that matters for air sealing. If valve ever fits long on outer side with ANY ball you can always simply trim excess. Thanks!

Thanks for the video. I did this and fixed 2 of my matchballs, but for my teamgeist, the old inflation valve fell inside the ball and its rattling around. I'd prefer not to play with the ball like that, any ideas on how to take it out?

Ghaemi350z I feel like I get that question every time :( unfortunately there’s no way to get it out other than cutting the ball open. Maybe it’s best to use it as a practice ball. Sorry if I’m not much help.

Waarna Official ther is no match ball type air valve. They are all pretty much the same unless you are pushing the new valve in too hard. You should barely have to press it in because the valve dome does not allow it to fall unless too much force is used.

Hi thanks for the reply. My first attempt i pushed a bit harder. However the 2nd attempt i didnt use any force, just insert the valve in the ball and inflate it and leave it until it goes in on its own.but when i pumped in again, the valve dropped in. Does it got to do with the dome?

Waarna Official have you tried comparing old valve to new one? If so and they seem about the same on the part that fits on the dome then maybe the dome is damaged.

I’ve have replaced many different types of valve from many different types of balls, replica or match ball and I have still yet to see a valve with a major difference or one that can fall easily.

AussieFreekickerz crochet needles. There’s an actual tool also but for some reason it’s hard to get it in the US. Nothing else I have at home has worked other than these needles ;(

luismiguel lopez I tried this with many different balls including Nike and yes they are all typically the same. Valve geometry may be a bit different but if you pull it out and measure you should be able to see if it works for you.

Okay Im just hoping the little hole on the panel will stretch out because it's not as open as your adidas balls you shown here. It's literally like 1mm wide. Thanks for your fast reply. Yes Nike ball hole should stretch a little. One thing I will recommend is that you cut Donor ball very carefully to remove valve. Then compare to Nike ball valve. If there's obvious differences in seating area then it will not work. Otherwise have at it!! There's only one way to learn!

I don’t think you can or at least I haven’t been successful in finding it locally at store. I did a quick search and found many on eBay and Amazon. KZbin just won’t let me post a link in comment. If you do a general soccer ball or pretty much any ball valve search you will find it.

Could you just buy a cheap football and cut out and use the valve from that? The cheapest valves I can find for delivery to the uk is £20+, whilst I could go buy a ball at sports direct for £3

mattie2710 yes this video was made to show you how to use a new valve and also a donor ball to get a valve from. Just be careful to not damage ball while trying to cut it out. Cheers!

Definitely checking them out! I play golf and footgolf too. Hey, hoping you can help me out. I got a Finale Madrid Champions League ball that is leaking air from several panels/stars. Seems the bladder is gone. It's weird because I can feel the bladder loose inside. But I thought the panels on these balls were glued to the bladder; so I don't understand how the bladder came loose. The valve is fine. Anyway, unlike the old balls, I cannot have my guy in Mexico replace the bladder by re-stitching the panels. Do you have any recommendations on how to fix this ball? It's a collectable so I don't care what's inside as long as the ball can display nicely.

Luis Rubio I would suggest pulling valve out and using expandable foam like the kind that is used for insulation. You will still get the round shape for display but it will definitely be unplayable. Also go very lightly on foam bc it expands quick and if you use too much it can damage ball. I'd spray a little and once it stops expanding spray more and repeat until you have shape desired.

Great idea. I'll probably experiment first with a cheap ball. My ball is in perfect shape and quite frankly I don't want to mess with it by removing panels. I will never kick this ball anyway. That seems a great advice for the rest of my collection once and when other bladders give up.
