u have created a class A and class B and at last we created a main class where we wrote obj.B=new B(); later u wrote obj.add; and my doubt is what if we write {obj.A=newA(); obj.sub;} or {obj.B=newB(); obj.add(); obj.sub();}

For an already existing app(assume it is created without using any sophisticated frameworks), creating a newer mid layer *class B* and extends class A possible to make a difficulty of changing all the class A implementation(that we previously had in our application) to class B right?

It is a mechanism where sub class inherits the features of their parent class by using a keyword called extends. Different types are as follows: 1- Single Inheritance 2- Multi-Level Inheritance 3- Multiple inheritance. Note: Multiple Inheritance not allowed.

multilevel inheritance can be done several times, there is no limit, but multiple inheritance is not supported in java
@MrRahulskumar
@MrRahulskumar 7 жыл бұрын
Multiple inheritance can be done by using interfaces. Example: If we need to use Threads, we can use it by extending thread class. If we are already extending a class and need to use Thread, then we cannot extend Thread class along with that class. In such case, we can implement Runnable interface. Valid: public class Test extends Main implements Runnable{ } ---- invalid: public class Test extends Main, Thread{ }

Why cant you just add more methods to class A even if someone else created that class?
@joefyneface4525
@joefyneface4525 9 жыл бұрын
+billyblackburn87 Look at each class as a template. One could add methods to class A, but then the template wouldn't be what the original class A was meant to be. However, by using inheritance, you can draw all the methods from the original template (class A, or superclass) plus methods specific to the subclass (class B in this case).
@brianlaudrupchannel
@brianlaudrupchannel 9 жыл бұрын
I understand. What I mean is whats wrong with changing class A so its different to the original? Why does class A have to remain in its original form?
@joefyneface4525
@joefyneface4525 9 жыл бұрын
+billyblackburn87 You could jam all your functions in one class, but doing so could lead to confusion , maybe not for this example, but imagine this. What if you had designs for several different cell phones, 5 cellphones for example, each with the same core functionality? Changing all the methods in one class to reflect all the other phones can be messy. Instead, it would be wiser to create a superclass for core functionality (1 superclass) then extend the core functionalities to each of the subclasses (5 subclasses representing the different cellphone) where you could create methods specific to those cellphones. That way, if a problem arises, debugging is easier. It makes code more modular.
