Temp gauge not working. Thermostat, temp sensor or instrument cluster? (Mercedes Benz W126)

What brand thermostat did you use? I am in the process of removing and replacing the thermostat in my 560SEL's engine and that back bolt is difficult to reach. In addition, the head of the bolt has been damaged by a previous repair.😥
