It is nice to see a British audience at a Yes show cheering for Trevor Horn, quite a contrast to their reaction in 1980.

Part of the reason is that it took a while for people to realize that the Drama album was a GREAT album. Some folks just didn't want to believe it was possible without Anderson and had their ears and minds closed to the possibility. As time went on, people came around and realized Drama is a fantastic album.
@AlexAlvarez-uq8ct8 жыл бұрын
HL: I agere, Drama is one of the top 3 prog albums ... ever. Classic, inventive, muscular prog that truly defies the clichéd accusations of being long-winded or indulgent. I think Horn takes a lot of credit for that album.
@hirschellitzenbaum94668 жыл бұрын
I am who knows You don't sound like a Yes enthusiast insulting the previous poster (Alex). Drama would have been DRASTICALLY different if Horn & Downes had not been involved. Why not have an intelligent discussion without name calling? This is Prog, not Death Metal.

It's been said before, but major props for the continuation of Yes has to go to Billy Sherwood. A lot was laid upon his shoulders after Chris' death, both in terms of bass parts and vocals, and he's MORE THAN held his own in both of those regards. As to this performance in particular? Really, really well done. Trevor Horn sounds great singing along with Billy here, and it looks like everyone on stage is having a lot of fun with this. Kudos as well to Mr. Davison for being gracious and taking a back seat for this song.

Thank you Trevor for this awesome guest appearance!!! One of my absolute favorite albums of all time. Trevor took a scary job -- replacing Jon Anderson for an album -- and really hit it out of the park. Being so successful now, what a great sport he was to appear and sing this. Awesome song; awesome guy; thank you.

Flo Worrall I hope he will continue to guide Yes. He plays a pretty mean bass if Billy wants a break for a song or two. Trevor Horn was one of the best things to happen to the band, and along with Trevor Rabin, really kept them going and gave 'em a kick in the rear. As for Geoff Downes, he's pretty flexible. Yes might become his full time gig before long 🤐😶 (not sayin' more) along with the occasional side project.

Thinking back, and Drama was my first contemporaneous purchase of a Yes album, I was 15, Trevor Horn demonstrated a great deal of courage in taking Jon Anderson's place. His lyrics are also quite original and smart. Drama is a fresh and musically compelling album, not great as the Anderson led works, but fun to listen to and full of bright and enchanting energy.

There are as many ASIA members in this band as YES players. Trevor is a Guest so it crosses over to the YES side, but this is not YES. It's Steve Howe touring as YES. Chris Alan and Steve were so tight after rehearsing with no singer or Keys for months, stellar album just listened to as a three piece, add the Keys and it is the most futuristic album released pre 80's. Trevor helped them in many ways, that Album was still contemporary sounding years later. Even today it stands up production wise, loud before the Gain Wars, and Crystal Clear instrument Placement. Not a muddy or dark spot on it.

I lost interest in Yes after Jon Anderson's departure. He was unfairly treated. I saw the fly from here tour, no a bad album, but opening act Styx blew Yes off the stage. And only seeing Jon Davison via you tube, he's trying to sound too much like Anderson?. The only Yes tour I wanted but did not get to see since I first saw yes on the topographic oceans tour in 74 was the drama tour. Always liked that album. Hugely underrated. I had appears from what I read and saw that Trevor Horne wasn't very well received. But he did not try to replicate Jon Anderson's vocals. Drama had its own sound and style but still within the Yes genre.. After seeing this video, the band mastered this tune. And Billy Sherwood stands up to the plate. A little reminiscent of Chris Squire, but still has his own signature. And Jon Davidson was gracious to do the backing vocals. Trevor Horne sounds great. IMHO , this is Yes at their best since Jon Anderson''s departure.
@AlexAlvarez-uq8ct8 жыл бұрын
If you lose interest in a band it should probably be for MUSICAL reasons,not becuase of an emotional attachment to Jon Anderson - the last truly brilliant thing he did was OLIAS OF SUNHILLOW way back in 1976. Anderson was sick for absolutely ages and out of respect Squire/Yes didn't tour or record, but they couldn't put YES on hold for ever!!
@turbolarry528 жыл бұрын
+Alex Alvarez it would always be on the music. I never have emotional attachment to an artist ( unless its a female, or in the present tense, being shattered that a rising star like Christina Grimmie gets gunned down by a fucking nutcase a la Mark David Chapman. That blows my mind, then the assholes on high are pussies to the NRA! Oh and I was bummed about Chris Squire.. My hometown had a great DJ , Ed Sciaky who introduced Yes to the USA in the late 60's. I like all music, just enjoy progressive rock. And I'll say the video of Trevor. Horne doing does it really happen was awesome! What does Ian Anderson, never too old to Rick and roll. I introduced my son to my music at an early age, now he in turn introduces me to new music. Some I like some eh, but i respect everyone's tastes.

TOO Buggles too many on this stage, IMO...but credit where it's due, at least trevor hasn't put on so much WEIGHT, but his unfortunate tenure with Yes is best forgotten. It's shame, because if JonA had sung on this album it could have been a post-1979 classic. It had some great songs on it. Billy is doing his best, I agree. Does he own a Ric, though? Chris cannot be replaced, but he made some whacky decisions to "replace" JonA...including that Canadian guy with the sequined vests...
@Daniel-415-Ponce6 жыл бұрын
Stephen Howe "Unfortunate tenure" - - are you serious? "Drama" was one of the band's greatest albums, in large part due to the participation of Horn and Downes from the Buggles, and it proved Yes could carry on successfully without Jon Anderson. The only thing unfortunate was that back in 1980 too many close-minded crybabies refused to open their minds and ears to the possibilities that a new lineup offered in terms of keeping the band relevant in a new decade. Admittedly, Anderson will always be the quintessential voice of Yes, and he was a visionary who helped guide the band artistically, but the late Chris Squire was the true anchor, heart and soul at the core of all Yes music.

I have - I saw Yes 1980 with Horn....unlike you I do not use personal abuse. Drama instrumentally was a good album...you are a child in comparison to how often, when and where, as to the amount of times I have seen Yes....and like Rick Wakeman states very clearly.....You cannot have Yes without Anderson...and now without Squire...... it is unforgivable...They now rely on a once Yes tribute band singer for song writing...something Anderson did with brilliance - hence all those past great albums....but this is a sheer imitation as to what was once very great.....but tell you what...you are among the very few female Yes fans who are overwhelmingly male....so good on you for that Anki......
