You are never too old to learn. Your tips made me realize I at 70 am afraid to cut fabric! I might ruin it. I find myself collecting. And I realized I need to make time to sew. I think that was your best tip or reminder. Thank you.

I actually love doing alterations & hemming pants. My favorite part is seeing someone be so pleased with something I have completed for them. I also sew for myself, my adult daughter and my granddaughter.

Years ago I use to make my own cloths. And track suits for my children. And started to make all my own curtains, duvets, pillows, and table cloths. Then I did ribbon embroidery, found it beautiful but takes up a lot of time. I use to cloches so much , cloths table cloths, and a duvet for my bed crochet, and a curtain with a picock on it. I immigrated to another country, and was very sad, so didn’t do anything besides making cloths, for me. And shirts 👔 for my husband and son. I have not been sowing much besides curtains. But now I am in the mood again and enjoying these pouches and boxes, bags, and organizing boxes. Something new for me, but I seem to enjoy this now. And I have built up a lot of virility of birds that I take cRe of and breed, I just love them. So that is how I have just done almost all crafts. Even painting and knitting 🧶.....🌹❤️🌹❤️

Great tips... I am a long time sewist and you are completely right to say sew what you love and have time for instead of sewing for others who don't know what it takes to do!

💕great ideas , as usual! I love the idea to refer those who ask me to hem their pants to another seamstress who can do that stuff. So many people ask me to fix things: hemming, replacing zippers, mending.... and they want me to do it for nothing! It’s so frustrating! Handing out someone else’s number is such an excellent idea!!!!

Thank you for this. I am so so brand new to sewing. I've made a pot holder & a mat for under my machine & they don't look all that great but I got it in my head that I should rip them out, start all over & also learn to sew all the things. I felt overwhelmed & daunted by all the enthusiastic sewing vids I've been watching. Inspired yes but at the same time don't always feel like even moving forward. BUT this vid of yours gave me so much freedom to do it or not do it. To do it my way, my pace etc. etc. I feel like I can breathe when I look at my machine & not walk around it then walk away. Don't think I'm explaining this all that well but I'm thinking you understand because of your comments in your vid. Thanks again & I always look fwd to seeing a notification from you :D

Kathy Tincler Remember sewing is a skill that gets better with practice. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Do lots of simple projects till your seams become more consistent. You’ll be amazed at how much easier it gets and how much better your work turns out. Take your time and enjoy!😊

I have so many projects I want to do. Some I have already bought the supplies for. I became overwhelmed and frustrated because I could not figure out where to start. So i decided to do one craft a month too learn it. Example, crochet one month, next month watercolor, next month punch needle and so on. Hopefully I won't be so scattered.

Virginia, these 10 Habits were so good. I am the person who ruminates over fabric. I want to make clothes, but I do and then they don't fit and I get discouraged. Need to find something I love to sew. I do well with "stuff" aprons, oven mitts, etc Thanks so much!

same! clothes rarely turn out for me- unless I make clothes that are created to layer underneath things- like a simple dress under a cardigan. Still that can be iffy too! But it takes some of the pressure of :)

That was good advice and the spirit of a few of them are easily transferable to other areas of life! I can fully appreciate being bogged down by fabric choices or making choices on equipment, etc. and not getting to the project for awhile or at all! I tell my wife (jokingly of course) "quit nagging me, I told you 6 months ago I'll get to it!". As for the being social with sewing, where I live the libraries have weekly sewing and quiting circles (as well as every other hobby or endeavor. Music, art, hi tech, etc.). So, maybe your followers who haven't been to the library of late might take a visit to a local branch and find a new outlet(s) for their creative sides or at the very least see how their tax dollars are being spent. Just as a side, we have 64 branches in our county and each has an average annual budget of about $10.5 million! They don't just lend books anymore! Have a healthy and prosperous 2020!

Saying no nicely. I have been asked to hem pants, slip cover a chair make drapes make a baby blanket also my boss once asked if a friend of hers could barrow my machine. On and on. it gets almost funny doesn't it? because people who don't sew don't realize the scope or time of a project. AND in my case they have a little too much confidence in my ability, like slipcovers😀
