Very enjoyable! I'd be interested to see more of this type of video where you discuss your favorites (and more importantly your reasoning behind why you've come to those choices) on a whole variety of stationery-related products (pens, inks, papers, notebooks, storage options, etc.) - sometimes all the choices can get a little overwhelming, and it's nice to see what choices others are making and why - especially as more and more products must be purchased online. I appreciate your taking the time to share your thinking.

No turquoise or teal? I couldn't survive. But that's why they make so many different colors and shades. Good, thought provoking review.

Also not a lot of Pelikan did make the long list?
@DealerBoy6 жыл бұрын
@@LourensRolograaf Pelikan 4001 Turquoise has been a fav of mine for years. The Pelikan Black is among the darkest, but I've had flow issues in some pens. Private Reserve Blue Suede used to be a favorite of mine. But the founder died and seems to have taken the formula with him to the next world. They still make a Blue Suede ink, but it's more blue then the ink I fell in love with.

Absolutely brilliant vid!: agree with you about the blues - you can never have enough!(btw, what I ink did a vid on standard blue inks and it’s one of his most watched so don’t think we would find it boring at all); so my favourites: blue, J Herbin Eclat de Saphir; blue/black, Aurora but also love Pilot’s; orange, J Herbin orange indien; green, Pilot Iroshizuku chiku-rin (bordering on too light to be useful but great shading!); brown, J Herbin cacao du Brésil; don’t use black but love Iroshizuku Fuyu-Syogun which is a grey with a hint of blue and as for red and purple: agree with your choices; also, would really miss Montblanc St Exupéry and Caran d’Ache blue skies!:)

Black - Noodlers Dark matter (the history does it for me, mega wet and very permanent) Orange - Montverde Fireopal - it has SILVER SHEEN. Nuff said. Green - Sailor Tokiwa-matsu, dark forest green with red sheen, well behaved Blue/black - Pilot BB. Red sheen, super permanent, well behaved. Red - Sailor Oku-Yama. Deep, rich red with lovely gold sheen, well behaved. Purple - Rohrer & Klinger Scabiosa. Iron gall, dusky and shading heavy. I was close with Nemosine Alpha Centauri (dusty purple with lots of gold sheen) Brown - Pelikan Edelstein Smoky Quartz. It only beat Noodlers Kiowa Pecan because Pecan can be so smeary. Very well behaved, permanent and extremely shade-heavy. For blue, all I need is Sailor Souten. And to round it off, I'd throw in Emerald of Chivor and Sailor yama-dori.

I'm not sure why people need niche colours like orange/brown/redin their lives, I would instantly replace those with some extra blues. I would also add some archival/pigment ink, since "use for the rest of you life" kind of implies that civilization has collapsed and no one is producing pens anymore. The blue/purple category is actually extremely easy to pick, and for me that would be Maruzen's e.blue, Parker's penman sapphire and then Diamine's Oxford and regency blue. Possibly Maurine as well. It's gaudy as hell, but quite a beautiful colour. Green stays just because how much I love L'artisan's Olivastre.

This was a fun video. I tried to guess what you would pick, or i basically picked the ones i liked the best and we matched on most of them. The only ones i had “wrong” were black and purple. I don’t really care for black ink, so I wasn’t really familiar with them. The only black I use is Noodler’s black, not because I like it more than other black inks, but just because it was the first bottle of ink I ever bought, and there’s no way I will ever finish it in this lifetime, lol. Purple is my favorite, so I would’ve kept them all and added a few. 🤣 I don’t really consider yamabudo to be purple, so I think you could’ve gotten away with making that a bonus & then keeping the other one as more of a true purple. Less hurt feelings this way, because it hurt mine to see you get rid of it too. 😂 thanks for sharing!

Have you tried Sailor Jentle Ostmanthus Orange? It's practically identical to Montblanc Lucky Orange but doesn't end up silting up in your pen if you leave it be for a while. Also, you might want to glance at Diamine Tropical Green. That one stole my heart before I found Irish Green. Purples are much more my thing than blues. You can't make me choose. Oha, what a difference! I am a huge fan of dark greens and purples. Blue is definitely not my favorite color, so here is my list: Purple: Diamine Imperial Purple, J. Herbin Poussiere de Lune, Black: R&K Leipziger Schwarz, Blue: Diamine Teal, Brown: R&K Sepia, Green: Diamine Salamander, Pelikan 4001 Dunkelgrün, Red: Diamine Oxblood, Orange: Diamine Autumn Oak, Blue-Black: R&K Verdigris. As you can see, I had to cheat a bit when it came to blue as I don't like the "pure" basic colors red, yellow and blue. I do have reds and blues in my collection because sometimes the occasion arises to use them but mostly I'm going for the mixed colors like (dark)green, purple and (dark) orange. I also like my Diamine Earl Grey, especially on a yellowish paper. But the video pushed me to think about my choices of inks. Great job!

Fun video! Thanks. It’s an interesting exercise to think about. No real quibbles, but I’d NEED a teal - my choice being P.I. Ku-Jaku. Black & blue-black would be redundant for me. Yama-budo, being a red violet, would need to be balanced with a blue-violet, either R&K Cassia, or Waterman Tender Purple. My blues would include Diamine Imperial Blue, and my reds would have Diamine Red Dragon. Sticking to just ten is surprisingly difficult.

Thank you as always for your video! The only thing I disagree with is your choice for purple: I would consider Yama Budo to be a lighter maroon/eggplant color rather than a purple. Your other choices were more purple-like. Cross Violet or [for me] my favorite: De Atrementis Magenta Purple would be closer to what I think of when I hear purple. I also expected to see some sepias between the brown runner-ups, at least - and at least one darker brown, like diamine chocolate. And no Apache Sunset as a possible orange? @FigbootonPens6 жыл бұрын
Many inks contain natural materials. A blue ink might contain blueberries, a brown ink might have walnut shell. That being said, some inks have more preservitive than others, and have a longer shelf-life. If you open up a bottle and see stuff floating around on top, it's typically mold. I wouldn't advise using moldy ink in your precious pens! It really depends. Some ink will last for decades.

Best to avoid heat and sunlight. If you keep them in the glove compartment or a sealed center console, it might work better.

Everyone’s different and your colour preferences evolve, but for what it’s worth, I’ve liked Aurora blue/black and Pilot Iroshizuku shin-kai for ages:)

What do you think of the new blue aero

It looks fantastic. I'm not sure I need a third Aero...but if I picked another up, it would definitely be that blue.
