The lesson I’m learning from this video is even if you miss or resist a campaign and regret it later, you can probably still get your hands on the game. So ignore the FOMO.

I feel like I’ve paid less. Many kickstarters are charging the same as a store, so are making more profit per backer. But a store will have discounts very often that I haven’t seen from manufacturers.

Nice list! I could see this turning into a yearly wrap-up video as there are just so many campaigns these days... My three were Dwellings of Eldervale, Roll Player Adventures and Destinies. Luckily, for all of them, there was some really good early buzz as the kickstarters dropped and I was able to get all three of them rather quickly after the initial fulfillment. I know a lot of other people weren't so lucky for the first two, especially DoE.

The base game and Wulfsberg expansion were easy enough to get. But I am still trying to track down some of the other KS exclusive content. Well with a board game you can easily see that you moved to a wrong spot and just go back and change your move. I think the big thing my group did wrong was we didn't know their was a limit on how many times you could donate to the great oak, We still limited it to 1 blessing each, but the amount of check marks on the oak increased, unlocking some things faster. I also know that the steam version has some rules that honestly don't make sense. Like I had a card that moved me with jump and then all enemies I run over I damage and poison, but for some reason I couldn't add my boots that add 2 move to that.

i regretted not backing Sleeping Gods, but eventually I did get my hands on it and now I'm in the same boat as everyone else who had it already. Humans have a weird obsession with being among the first to experience something. Be it people who wait in line for days to buy the newest iphone, sleep in outside a theater to see a movie at the first showing, or backing games on kickstarter and throwing a tantrum when they see other people receiving their copies first. Like, chill. Is that few days of feeling special really that worth it? Also, eternally grateful I backed Frosthaven (not that it was even a debate for me) after getting the update that they were jacking the price up by 100 bucks at retail release.

Haven't been getting in on Frosthaven since I waited for the german campaign by Feuerland. This has been delayed several times now and the last info I got would be some price point of 250 Euros. I generally agree with being an informed consumer rather than a creature of FOMO. Solomen Kane was one of the biggest games I’ve ever went all in on and don’t regret it one bit. I know it too a long time to come out, but I’m glad it did! I hate when games come out half-cooked because they didn’t want to be super-late or ran out of funds. The one thing I will say is that it is A LOT of content to get at once. I rarely go all in and hope it stays fresh in the expansions. I’m also glad they didn’t INSTANTLY come out with a 2nd campaign for it on the heals of its success. Ugh I hate that. I haven’t even played a game and a month in I know there is an upgrade kit I won’t get for another year (Shout out to Chronicles of Drunagor who got that upgrade kit out stat). Ultimately, in many cases I feel like I paid to be a beta testers. I love the crowdfunded gaming world-I remember when you started doing a show and not just a used game seller I saw on BGG-so congratulations on your new job!

Hi Alex! Great list great video, great mix of games. I backed only one of them. lately, the latest tainted Grail. I never supported it because I was a bit disappointed by the repetition I felt playing 7th Continent. But 2 friends of mine I digging deep into that one, I played twice with them and loved it, and now, I used my referral work bonus to pledge the gameplay all-in. I also own Roll Player Adventures and will definitely get my hands on Frosthaven eventually. Planet Unknown will most likely also come my way. I'm looking forward to try Horizon Zero Dawn and Solomon Kane, but for now, I have no intentions to buy them. Finally, I played and I enjoyed Foundations of Rome. It is fun and amazingly pretty, and I'm not going to pay for high produced game. But, for any one looking for a medium weight game, that has an amazing presence, go for it. But for me, being pretty is not enough to spend so much. I'm so happy 2 of my friends bought it, and I don't have too!! As for Ks/Gamefound in general. For my part, I jumped in during the Pandemic, backing more than 35 projects in 2 years (I've back 5 total before that). I was down to 9 this year, but just backed 2 more. Tainted Grail and Quodd Heroes. I rarely back 1st edition project, and only if they are not easy to find or cost too much. But there are some exception. Like Endless Winter coming soon! Or Earth earlier this year. I don't have FOMO, but I like to get all the gameplay a game can offer. Until now, most of my KS were bought after the campaign, and sometimes 2-3 years later at good price. For example, I got a full nemesis pledge(everything except lockdown), with the washed mini for 250$ CDN. The mini's are amazing! I like the reasons behind KS and gamefound, but i hate to wait 12 to 24 months, sometime more. I like when I'm looking for a game, that I can get it int he next month. So, thank you for honesty, I love how you see gaming like me. Everything is based on how much fun a game gives you. Have a great day!

Alex the thing about Solomon Kane is that you don't have to play every scenario to understand the game and enjoy it. I am biased, being a Robert E Howard fan though. Not all of the scenarios are great. Some frankly are mediocre. But I find the theme and mechanics of the game to be interesting. Borrow the game and one of the smaller scenario books (I like Rattle of Bones) and I think you will at least find it an interesting 45mins.

They were demonstrating game play in a series right up to the closing of the pledge manager. They never made it to a boss fight in this series so I backed away from completing my pledge (1Euro loss) since it seemed like a lack of transparency. Unfortunately, IMHO the KS exclusives for HZD IMHO are too good to purchase without. I literally was torn right up to the final hour for HZD's pledge manager closing. It certainly didn't help that my favorite influencers were not impressed either... SIGH. ARGH. Ok that said I did back Canvas, Frosthaven, RPA, Foundations of Rome, Planet Unknown, and Radlands.
