I think I must be the slowest sewist ever! I've been at it for years on and off, but I think each of these would take me at least twice as long to actually make neatly...some great rec's - thank you.

Nooo! Dont think that, I think it’s helpful sometimes to know how little amount of time the sewing can take when I put things off because I think they are going to take ages xx

Have you ever tried Nancy Zieman’s 10-20-30 minutes to sew technique? She published a book on it. She advocates that you fit in sewing when you can, even if it’s only 10 minutes at a time. Also, sewing multiple pieces together and then pressing at one time can speed up your sewing.

I'm a slow sewer as well. I do best when I can really concentrate. The time when that happens is not as frequently as I would like. I'm a homeschooling mother of four children who are all grown now, one still in highschool. But I still get a lot of little interruptions. My mind needs to be clear so as to think through the sewing steps. So yeah, it's a challenge. It can take me a week to just get a simple A-line skirt done, or longer! 😅

I love the Ashton top and I’ve got the sleeve expansion so it will take me into the winter. The SOI shift dress is great ,I’ve used it several times. The paper bag shorts pattern has just been extended into larger sizes. I love this video cos it’s making me think about the patterns I’ve got and how I can use them. Thank you Sally❤

Thanks for your recommendations. I’m looking for a simple long sleeve woven top so the ultimate shift dress pattern is the one for me. I’d also add the sew house seven toaster to that list. Love your vlogs and look forward to new ones coming out x

Ah yes that should work. I had a long sleeved version that I wore for ages before it started unravelling inside because I’d made it without an overlocker in those days x
@Sewingbearclare3 ай бұрын
Hi Sally thank you for an interesting inside to nice quick sewing. I am about to start a Scout tee with the petal sleeve then a cuff sleeve one as I think they will be great for dressing up or with jeans. I love a Friday pattern company Sagebrush for the same reasons, leave the ruffle off and take the puffy sleeve down changes it so much.😊

I would never have thought to make the sagebrush that way thank you for the tip! X

I am thinking to make the scout tee from double gauze, shall I make the bias binding from other material ?
@SecretLifeOfASeamstress3 ай бұрын
Yes you can do. Gauze can be stretchy so you might just need to take more care not to stretch out the neckline. I’ve used cotton gauze before x
@KarenMcNeil-en2fn3 ай бұрын
Hi. I've made the scout tee several times but I find the neckline very wide. Eg when I lean forward I have to hold the front of it. I am small busted but am quite broad shouldered. Any ideas would be welcome? Like to say it is simple and classic 🙂
@SecretLifeOfASeamstress3 ай бұрын
Oh that’s a shame. Maybe bring the shoulder seams in closer to your neck and then grade from the new shoulder seam to rejoin the neckline - does that make sense? X
@KarenMcNeil-en2fn3 ай бұрын
@@SecretLifeOfASeamstress I will try that thanks. When I see your scouts on you they look perfect. I've had to put 1 row of shirring elastic along the binding to sort it. Have a lovely Sunday 🙂
