I have 21 PB with 17k miles. On a trip from myrtle beach sc to stratford ct i averaged close to 30 mpg doing 60mph and 27mpg doing 70mph. It is a beast when passing slow trucks and cars on the interstate. I love the solid feel and even my wife drives quit well in it, it did take some learning curve for her.

Took delivery of my 2024 F150 XLT Powerboost yesterday. It is a 302A with the black appearance package, Office package, 7.2KW propower and tow/haul options. I ordered it 3 months ago and, like you, watched a ton of Powerboost videos awaiting delivery. I found yours to be the most informative on You Tube! I also took your advice and ordered the Tuxmats which went in this morning. I like the coverage and am anxious to see how they clean up after hauling my golden retriever around. Nice...my tuxmats have not been out yet because there's no need to remove them. They clean up very well and don't get "dull" like the rubber mats do. I find that some armorall works well to keep them resistant to crud, although they can get a little slippery to the driver's feet. All the best and let me know what else you'd like to see.

Have a 2022 Powerboost with now about 2600 miles. Agree with about everything you said in the video. Pulling a 6500 pound trailer with very little effort. Miles per gallon towing was about 8-10 mpg. My wife makes it a game to see how long she can keep it in electric mode going to town. It is one of the quietest and most comfortable trucks that I have owned coming mostly from Suburbans. I added an oil catch can and changed out the radio antenna along with an under-seat storage bag for the rear. Waited about 6 months for truck to arrive but it was definitely worth the wait and could not be happier. I like having the best of both worlds by getting great fuel economy around town but yet having the ability to haul and tow our RV. Thanks for your videos!

One of the main reasons I wanted this truck was to be able to use the generator feature to power our travel trailer when boondocking. I have a cover on my bed. Regarding routing the power cable out of the bed to the trailer, have you figured this out? I was contemplating expanding the existing hole in the back stake pillar and building a short 240v pigtail that would appear under the truck around the bumper. I would then plug the trailer cable into said pigtail as per a normal hookup. Thoughts?

Ordered my '22 Powerboost in early January, and took delivery on July 5th. I was coming from a '20 5.0 F150, and I really thought I would miss that glorious Coyote V8. Nope. Absolutely loving the new truck! All the points in your video are spot on! I would add that I am super surprised by how well the adaptive cruise and lane centering work. On freeway trips, the truck practically drives itself, and makes for a more relaxed experience.

Thanks for making this video. I ordered my '22 Lariat 502A Powerboost on Nov 10/21 and it arrived to the dealership here in Ontario on May 10/22. Really, the wait wasn't all that arudous. Maybe because most of the wait was over the winter months and I already had a 2018 F150 Ecoboost I was enjoying. I absolutely love everything about my new Powerboost! I've been racking up some pretty impressive fuel mileage as well. I make the same 240 km trip (one way) each week. This trip is a combination of two lane county roads and provincial highways and about 10% expressway driving. I go through small and large towns every 10-15 mins. With the cruise set at 98km/h, I'm getting 8.6 L/100 kms (27.5 USmpg) and about 51 of those 240 kms are electric. I challenge myself to see how much electric driving I can do with this truck. The truck has slipped into electric mode at speeds as high as 95 km/h and will slip into electric routinely at speeds below 80 km/h. I leave my truck in Eco mode. When I tow our 6000 lb RV, I put it into Tow/Haul mode. To be expected, my fuel mileage is cut by 50% when towing the RV. I thought my 3.5 Ecoboost was a monster; this engine is faster and pulls that trailer with more ease. Interestingly...... the turbos seem to spool up less on the PB than the straight EB. The electric engine is in the background all the time, even when not in full electric drive, assisting the ICE engine. Very highly recommended!

I agree with everything you said,. I did figure you would mention the idling with the engine off the AC on for your dogs, that is to me one of the best features that I had no idea, absolutely love that, waiting on the kids after school, wife shopping at a department store, I'll just wait in the truck. I do love the 360 camera, the greeting light is exactly like you explained, like a dog wagging its tail. The bed lights are amazing. The cross traffic monitoring when you're backing out is pretty amazing as well. Heck, I've even tried the trailer backup pro assist that I said I never would, it works actually pretty good on my 12 ft trailer which is a jackknife King. All in all it's a game-changing truck, to which there are none out there with its capabilities, and we haven't even touched on the generator capabilities, to anyone waiting on their truck it is worth it, just be patient.

I got mine in July, I like your take on Club and 7 point turn. The turning radius is not good, however all the other positives outweigh that negative. Smooth ride, very quiet interior, great sound system. Fuel economy has been better at least for me than expected. Everything works and it is solid.

Those older rangers were insanely durable. I worked for Napa as a delivery driver in college from 00-02 and we had a 95 ranger, my boss asked me to change the spark plugs because it wasn’t firing up to get to the dealer for service (it had st that point 130,000miles). I asked him when the spark plugs were changed, he looked at the service record and said never! Low and behold the spark plugs were barely there (2 per cylinder) with the original motorcraft numbers to match. That thing went another 60,000 before he finally sold it.

I’ll add to the list of things I love: 1) The Ford Pass app - the ability to remote start on a hot day, and to check the stats and location of the truck. 2) The 360 cameras - a must when trying to park in congested urban areas. 3) Mpg - over the past couple of days been averaging 26 mpg. I didn’t like the feel of Eco mode, so sticking to Normal mode. I’ve had a hybrid in the past so I already know how to feel out the sweet spot. Working to get it up to 30 mpg. 4) The LED lights. I switched out the license plate lights to LED to match the rest. Headlights are bright!!

I have changed oil on this thing 4x and it just doesn't get any easier. The filter seems to tighten over time; I admittedly hand-torque it as hard as I can (armstrong wrench!) and that might be part of the problem. I might be interested in your solution.

This is an excellent review of the PB F150. I have had mine for about 4 months now and it just continues to impress me. My household is historically a Toyota family and I did wait for the new Tundra release. After much research and comparing, it was a pretty easy choice pulling the trigger on the F150. I agree with everything in this video. I have recently been using the adaptive cruise control. It takes a little getting used to but I really like it. I too love the Zone lighting in addition to the Pro Power Onboard. Thanks for this great video. One of the better ones I’ve seen on YT.

@@JH-mt3pp Agree 100%. I was disappointed with the overall design of the Tundra; and I hear that often which is so unfortunate. Currently I am routinely getting 22 - 24 MPG. Most of my driving is short distance (10 miles avg commute) and the PB is great. Besides my classic Mustang… this is my first Ford purchase and I am not disappointed at all. I have no regrets with my current purchase. I still own a 4Runner which I love. I like driving it because it’s easier to park. The turning radius and size (for parking) may be the only downside to the F150 but I can definantly live with that.

Haven’t ordered a truck, yet. Had a 2012 with the ecoboost and loved it. My primary reason for the F150 hybrid is the power take off feature. I’d like to have it for camping. No more Gen set to load in the truck. No more gas pouring in the bed of the pickup. No more running out of generator gas at 2am on the hottest day of the year. It would really help my back. I used to pull a 6000# trailer with my 2012 f150 ecoboost and had plenty of torque, even in Colorado. Thanks for the video. You helped me with some of the questions I had.

I have a 2023 4x2 PowerBoost and agree with your comments. I’ve been extremely impressed with the engine (can get 30 mpg on a trip when using eco mode) and the navigation. I did add a lot of options to my XLT, and the adaptive cruise and lane assist can handle so much! I don’t need to touch any pedals unless I come to a red light with nobody in front of me, and only need to steer when I make a turn onto a different road (other than the annoying alert to hold on the steering wheel, even when I am - appears Ford uses some kind of resistance sensor instead of th3 touch sensor on my other car). I sure wish I could change the default drive mode to eco, instead of setting it every time I start the truck - maybe you figured out how to do this…

There is no way to set the default mode to ECO even with ForScan programming. The steering wheel "nag" alert is annoying...find the video of the guy that ties a weighted bean bag to his steering wheel to create a "redneck BlueCruise" which tricks the lane centering into thinking that he's constantly tugging on the wheel. Not my style but I find it an amusing and clever solution. cheers

Great review! With the way I drive I get 23-24 mpg in the summer. Driving the same way in the Minnesota winter I only got 16-17 mpg though

Thanks Andy...I noticed about the same thing even in mild SC winters. The HV battery tends to really discharge in cold weather and you lose much of the effectiveness of the electric "boost" when it's cold. That's why there's a heat exchanger to help warm up the battery. Those first few miles in the winter really cost me mileage until the battery gets warmed up and charged, then it's about the same. Also winter blend fuel is less efficient, from what I understand. cheers

I have a 21 Limited with the powerboost. I drive too fast too often and I’ve never felt the truck lean in any situation, matter of fact it’s just the opposite, it always corners flat with no hint of lean . I do have the 5 ft. Bed but with the heavy batteries so low in the truck the center of gravity is lower than my 2018 150 was. I had the skip shift eliminated by a retune at my dealer, now it no longer misses second gear under any circumstance and I don’t miss the skip shift ever and the retune of the computer was done under warranty! The shorter wheelbase turning radius is also much better than my longer wheelbase 2018 was so I really have zero complaints!

Picked mine up July 6 after ordering just before Christmas. Took it on a 600 mile trip to Florida 10 days later so had plenty of seat time to figure it out. Only issue I had was after sitting in the Florida heat one day some of the electronics reset to factory settings. Will keep an eye on that to see if it happens again but so far my wife loves it. Especially the 360 camera.

I ordered a 2022 lariat power boost 6.5 bed January 18. With a delay after it was built, for a microchip no less, it shipped May 29. I received a railcar number and everything from my dealer. The problem is that it was shipped via CNR (Candian National Railway) and have no way of tracking that car. I’ve had 6 delays in transit since May 29. I’m both anxious and discouraged that it’s taking 8 months to get my truck, if it even comes in within the new timeframe. With the videos I’ve watched that you’ve put up I’ve been able to do some tracking, but, because my truck is being delivered to Colorado I can’t find it anywhere. I just keep getting the “We need a little more time in delivering your truck” E-mail from ford. This video you made really makes me want my truck even more now. This is the best video I've seen so far on this truck. Great observations and some really good tips. I especially like the locked out gear tip. I have both a Lightning and a Powerboost on order but the Powerboost will get built in October and I still have no idea on the Lightning. I do like to tow occasionally and when I do I don't want any issues so I think I will be buying the Powerboost and waiting a few years on the Lightning. Thanks for the info!

My 2023 Ford F150 power boost has one fault that apparently you have not experienced. In my use case I just use the truck about once a week. What happens is the battery runs down and lots of the features are shut off including the approach lighting and the accent lighting inside. Just driving to and from my office for 20 minutes doesn’t recharge the battery. The dealer said I needed to get a trickle charger, which I found really weird, considering I know the big lithium battery has plenty of power to give.

@@LoydTurner You can absolutely go to the dealer and have them check it out. But if it doesn't throw an error code, they'll send you packing with a lame "uh, we couldn't replicate the problem and the battery checks good" explanation. Probably will take you the majority of the day. How much value is your time worth. A mediocre battery that will fix the problem for probably a couple of years will cost you $200 at WalMart or Costco. I want to skip this problem for the next five years so I went with the X2. Oh, and they tested my OEM battery as being "good." The X2 is significantly better. Might also want to check that aux battery under the seat and make sure it isn't dragging down the party.

I have a USB cord plugged in the console outlet that I read could drain the battery somehow when not plugged into anything. I’ll take that out. I also ordered the Bluetooth battery meter as I just have to know what’s going on with my 12 volt battery. Hard to believe there is no battery gauge. Thanks for the help! I've the same transmission since 2019 2.6L ecoboost, Lariat and transmission needed adjustments twice at the dealership under warranty, there was a recall for valves as well for harshness jumps between gear. Get it checked 8f needed.

I recently just traded in my ranger for a 2023 F-150 with the 5.0. While I mainly traded in as a farmer needing something bigger I absolutely loved that little 2.5 power boost. Way more get up and go then you'd ever expect from a 2.5 engine it was really surprising. Really fun to drive little truck. I'm definitely going to miss it. And you definitely hit the nail on the head with the turning radius on the 157 wheel base. When i first got into that truck it felt like driving around a 20 foot lund compared to the ranger that turned like my 2005 toyota corolla and it really took getting used to.

I've had a powerboost for almost 18 months now, and this truck's shine wears off quick as the miles add up. I have frequent MIL's now, and at the start of a 3 hour drive tonight, had to pull over and reboot the truck to get it to stop giving me a generator overload warning (nothing plugged in, but a fairly regular event). The engine makes occasional grinding noises, and sometimes clicks like a starter using a low battery when I'm parked with the truck on. And the constant software updates are very annoying... it would be great if they finished it before sending it to the dealer... I like the truck and enjoy driving it, but would avoid another one in the future. I know this video is a year old, but I suggest having your alignment checked before 12k miles. Mine was randomly pulling left starting at 5k, dealer claimed it wasn't, started getting bad by 10k, made an appointment at 11k, dealer got it at 12075 and charged several hundred in hours because it was out of warranty at 12k....rotated the tires, didn't solve it, took it to another dealer that literally just aligned it for $150, and it's been fine for 40k...

Since I use the truck for work I love the cross traffic alert backing out of places driveways and so forth also if My tailgate is down it’ll show up on the display cluster Especially if you back in to a driveway and then you takeoff your tailgate is down you normally don’t know I lose everything out of the back which I’ve done before lol

Great video! I share many of the same experiences. I have had my 2021 Powerboost Lariat for 13 months and 13,500 miles. I have towed our (when full) 7,000 lb camper over 1,000 miles and powered it’s ac with the 7.2kw pro power. It’s my daily driver as well. We live in the hills of the lower adirondacks and so if I’m using 91oct in the summer I can get the 24mpg, though generally I’m between 20-21 ave mpg. Towing a utility trailer with my kubota on the back I can get 14-16mpg but with the camper it’s down to 8-10mpg as it’s a big brick. The only issues I had was within the first 2,000 miles a faulty fuel pressure sensor. That was misdiagnosed as a faulty fuel pump and then it took 3 weeks to get that. Once that was ironed out I haven’t had a single issue since. The Bluecruise was a nice bonus and I’ll enjoy it but probably not continue a subscription. Two things I wish was changed with software, they need to get rid of that 1-3 skip on the eco and normal mode; the transmission is so smooth in tow/haul, sport and The off road modes. Finally I wish there was a way to make CarPlay/Android Auto full screen and choose whether or not I want the split screen. Great video!

Nice video. I agree with nearly everything you mentioned..I have a 2021 4x4 supercrew power boost with the 5.5ft bed and I average about 21mpg with mixed city and freeway driving in Southern California. I don't drive it hard, but use the available power when I want or need to. I also own a 2021 F150 with the 2nd gen 2.7 Eco (Screw, 2wd) and a 2018 with the same setup. Previously I've owned 2011 Screw with the first gen 3.5 Eco (all high mileage work trucks) so I've had alot of saddle time to compare most iterations of the Ecoboost and in my opinion the 2nd Gen 2.7 Ecoboost( mated to the 10 spd) is hands down the best engine choice unless your needs require max towing capability. The 2.7 is Ford's secret weapon in my opinion. You'll never drive this and wish it had more power, it's actually a smoother, more livelier feeling engine, and returrns impressive real world MPG with less concentrated effort than the Powerboost. Ford really needs to fix the 10 speed 1-3 clunky shift though, it's really irritating, and I've never gotten used to it. Side note- the build quality on the 18 at least in terms of dash construction is better. No squeaks even with 180k miles on the odometer. Both my '21s have the same irritating albeit minor intermittent squeak from the sides of the dash near the doors.

I have the 2020 2.7L Lariat that replaced my previous 2.7L 2016 Lariat. I agree that it's got plenty of power and snappier than the 3.5L...and snappier than.ost cars on the road, especially on the low end 0-60. I wish they would build a 2.7L powerboost to get the best of both worlds. My next order will probably be the powerboost...was going to be the Lighting but I keep putting off ordering it and now I'm in the next my model year for reservations, but I'll probably cancel it and wait for the next gen ev as the range going off road here in Utah just isn't there yet. One thing I disagree with is the handling or cornering mentioned. Mm one handles well and is very easy to toss around corners...it could be my slightly stiffer fx4 shocks or the KO2 BFG tires at about 42 psi on road... about 18 psi off road. The factory stock tires suck and barely last me 25k miles vs 50k+ miles on the BFGs. Or, they did something to soften the 2021 model...let me know if anyone else has any thoughts on that. I like off-roading and camping in Utah and the hybrid would be great in a lot of those situations...range will be about the same,l or more, which I like... about 700 miles per tank depending on headwinds. I'm curious what real world tank range the powerboost is getting. 36 gallons vs 30 gallons I think plus electric?

A month ago I bought a 2023 Platinum Powerboost with the 5.5’ bed. Some of the quirky/jerky sounds and motions seem to have gone away after the first 1000 miles, and my fuel economy has moved up with that. I’ve been surprised at just how smooth and comfortable this powertrain is. Without ever feeling under powered, which has kept me away from hybrids in general. I’ve also enjoyed the flexibility of generator mode. Already been camping with it, looking forward to more road trips in the future. Hopefully this truck ends up being reliable. I was close to getting a new Tundra, but the lower fuel economy, first year hybrid powertrain, and lack of a higher kw inverter kept me to the ford. Time will tell.

my transmission/shifting improved noticeably with an online update. I did not notice until a week after the update had gone through, and put 2 & 2 together and realized that it had been much smoother during the previous week. Got my 22 XLT PB in early May, and have almost 4000 miles. I’ve seen people complain about the 1-3 shift, but mine never skips. Maybe mine has updated software from some of the earlier ones? The 145 WB also has a pretty terrible turning radius, which is the one reason decide against the longer bed. I’m not sure I made the right choice. I mean, terrible is terrible and with the 145 I have less cargo space. Handling: I came from a 13 outback -no sports car -and it’s taking getting used to how ponderous this thing is in the twisties. It now makes my wife’s 18 Explorer feel like a Miata by comparison. It is a terrific highway cruiser and tows our 5000# camper effortlessly, which was why we bought it. Fuel economy for us is right on par with the epa estimated 23/23 city/highway as long as you stick the speed limit. Running 80 mph burns more gas. Towing we get 11 mpg with the camper. I’m reminded of the 88 Ranger I bought new newly 30 years ago. It only got 20/24 mpg and it had about 100 hp from its 2.3 liter 4 cylinder running through it’s 5 speed manual transmission. The new truck has three times the capability as that old Ranger and is just as economical to operate (as long as you ignore the relative cost to buy them! Modern trucks are expensive.) I just put an ARE topper on my truck and I think it’s hurt my fuel economy a little bit, bit it’s too early to be sure. I’m hopeful however that by filling in the hole between the cab and the front of our camper it will help a little bit with fuel economy while towing by reducing the effective frontal area of the camper by some fraction. I’ve also got a small deflector to put on the back of the topper to send more air over the top that I’ll be experimenting with on our trip next month. I’ve documented fuel 1-1.4 mpg economy improvements when towing with our Explorer with our big tandem Hobie kayak on the roof of the TV compared to a naked roof, so it gives me hope the topper+deflector experiment has some chance of success. And if it’s not, I’m ok with 11 mpg towing. (Hopefully it won’t make it worse!) Everything mechanical and electronic works on my truck but I’m not as sanguine about the build quality as you. Mine has more than a few paint defects and the panel figment is not up to a $65,000 standard. One thing you didn’t mention which was one of my main reasons for buying the PB is the pro power onboard 7.2 kW generator. Being able to run our camper off grid, including The air conditioner is a game changer. And I figure if I ever lose power in my home for a extended period, I’ll at least be to able keep our fridge and freezer running along with a lights and fans even without a power transfer switch wired into our electrical panel. Overall I really like my truck and am super impressed with the hybrid drive train. It does worry me a little bit when considering long term ownership because of the complication of all the systems, but I still think it’s the best way to go.

Agree with everything you said. I ordered my XL Regular Cab 4wd 5 litre in early May and just got it yesterday 8/3/2022. I'm one of the lucky ones in that delivery was under 3 months. I've never even driven an F150 since there were none on the lots that were even close to my configuration. My only problem was getting those Boxlink cleats on after the Duraliner bed liner install. I had to use a rubber mallet on each of them. Love the truck but not the $72 dollars it took to fill it up.

I have started to hear of others with this issue. If it's not the heat exchanger, it's the aux pump. It's a wonder that all of this machinery works. My biggest concern is expertise on the dealer service side; mechanics are more than points and plugs jockeys now...they have to understand complicated digital control systems, which few do.

Grate video on this truck. I ordered in April and picked it up in July in Canada. 157 XLT Sport 302a in Atlas Blue. Very happy so far. Regret not getting the tailgate step and 360 camera. Did get the 7.2kw PowerBoost hookup in the box. Very happy so far, just under 10,000 km so far and averaging 9.6 L / 100 km (24.5mpg). Mostly rural low speed driving and city driving is where this thing thrives. It creeps up a little on the highway and I find using cruise negatively affects the milage. I'm going to experiment with your hint on gearing down for the hills and paying attention to boost to see if that helps on the highway. No negatives to report thus far. My first Ford. Last truck 2011 Ram Outdoorsman and while I wish ford had independent rear suspension, it still rides very nice without it, and the Ford PowerBoost destroys the 5.7 L hemi for milage. I've not towed yet but next year I'll be pulling a Kubota B23S with some frequency and look forward to see how it shines. I bought the PB as I'm starting a rural property that will be off grid for some time to come and interested in the 7.2kw during construction and initial occupancy until the grid reaches me. My brother liked it so much he recently picked one up as well.

We have almost the same truck then. The towing mileage of the EB 3.5 is not stellar because you're constantly in "boost" trying to compensate, but locking out the upper gears will help that. Sounds like the PB is an ideal vehicle for your off-grid needs! (I have yet to plug anything in yet!)

The "shopping cart" feeling can be remedied by upgrading you tires.. Not ideal in a new vehicle but the low load rated 35psi tires are just sloppy.. I switched to a E load rated tire at 50psi on my 22 F150 and it totally changed that feeling for me.. Also the tailgate minus the step is extremely light.

I have a 2021 Power boost King Ranch that was purchased 16 months ago. It has just 5K miles on the odometer so obviously most of my driving is in town. The trip odometer shows just 21.9 over those 5K miles driving for the most part quite frugally. The longest time I have run exclusively on electric power has been 90 seconds going a steady 40mph. Normally, it's only 30-40 seconds. How in the world did you manage 10 minutes?

Very good video: I have the same model and I agree with every observation, especially the remarks about long distance driving and "dog utility vehicle." I haven't tried to do an oil change myself. and now will not do so. After 30K miles have managed to average 25 mpg local and 21 highway but I'm a very conservative driver.

@@fixorrepairdiy4609 so i ended up taking a 2021 loaded they had off lease last Friday. many features I like especially the zone exterior lighting and the sound system but I’m also very disappointed in other features especially coming from a 2016 GMC Denali. First thing is they only have one 12 V outlet in the front and I like to run a dash camera and a radar detector which now I have to buy a splitter. Second thing is the steering wheel heat only last for about five minutes then automatically cools down and you have to shut the heated steering wheel off and turn it back on to get it to heat again for another five minutes and the salesman told me this was the case on all of them it’s not special to mine. The most disappointing and annoying thing was that the bumper doesn’t have a cut out for stepping up into the truck and I didn’t realize when I bought the truck it also didn’t come with the optional tailgate step. Because I’ve got the off-road package. The truck is even taller in a complete pain for a 60 year old to get in and out of. i want to love the truck but it’s all the little convenience features that they left out that makes me wanna go back to a GMC.

Fuel mileage from the PowerBoost seems to be very vehicle dependent. Mine, a 502A Lariat now at 4000 miles, averages 21 mpg and I don't baby it but I also don't beat it; I just drive it like I would any other vehicle but I do pay attention to the Eco and Braking coach and am usually in the high 90 percentile rating from the truck. It gets pretty close to the same mileage my previous 2019 502A Lariat got with its 3.5 EB engine before that truck's mileage dropped off to 15 mpg in September of last year. Other folks on the online forums report the same, some folks continually beat the numbers and others are like mine while still others are below 20 mpg average.

if I used Cruise, the boost would kick in harder. Cruise Control is a lagging control mechanism, it only cares about maintaining speed which requires boost to accomplish up a hill since the truck would slow down first as it first encounters the incline.

I will typically lockout gear 10-7 (so in 6th gear) when going up steep hills to utilize the rpms of the engine, rather than lugging up the hill more slowly in 10th gear.

I have a 2022 KR powerboost just over 3000miles...I love everything about it...except the MPG. I can't get over 15.8 city and 17 hwy. Tried everything...and I have given up. My tires are only one inch taller and the weight difference is insignificant between stock and aftermarket wheels. I was expecting a drop in mpg because of the new tires but 8mpg loss is significant. I still love it and I am very happy with it...I just wish I could get closer to 20mpg

Have you recalibrated the speedometer? Everything in your odo/speedo was based on the stock tire diameter. One inch larger diameter spins far fewer revolutions per mile so it will throw off your mileage calculation. Larger tires are heavier with more mass to rotate, but properly calibrated speedometer should only show a small decline.

Secondly I have a 2019 f150 with the 2.7 EcoBoost and I have to say a lot of what you talk about with the power boost translates over to the normal EcoBoost engines as well. Of course my truck's on a leveling kit with bigger tires but it's still rides extremely well and surprisingly on my last trip to Canada I was able to get 23 MPGs on the highway. You aren’t getting to the stuff part of the suspension. If you ever do have to push this truck faster than needed into an on-ramp off-ramp it will get to the hard part of the suspension and take it. They handle pretty good all things considered once you get there. The softness is on the first inch or two of travel

Good video but there is a thing i noticed that was incorrect. Zone lighting is not what you are describing when you have keys in your pocket and approaching you truck, that is called Approach lighting. Zone lighting uses side lights on the mirror (not bottom), headlights and reverse lights depending on which you activate through your infotainment system. By the way, we got the same Atlas blue color trucks :)

@@fixorrepairdiy4609 sorry to bother her you, but you did ask what we’d like to see in future Videos so been thinking today. #1 The advantages of the Hybrid system, fuel mileage, power is it truly a benefit in everyday driving. #2 how often in the real world do use the electricity producing ability in everyday circumstances, I know a lot of guys that have the back up assist feature and never use it, so is it really something most people might need for the cost of it. #3. How does the Hybrid system add to complexity and effect reliability, a Chevy Volt small Hybrid battery can replacement can cost 20K+, they seem to last between 100k and 200k, how much bigger and costly battery are you looking at replacing at say the 150K mark, if it goes bad. Just a few questions, saying all that I realize I could get in my truck in the morning and the turbos go out, probably a 4 grand cost to replace, a transmission around 5k and a engine around $6,500, but a battery for a tiny volt 20K + would have me worried.

I'm definitely rolling the dice on the long-term reliability of this truck, but holy cow I love the way that the engine drives and all the bells and whistles are just perfect. Bought extended warranty which I think protects me until 150k or ten years. Likely will be in something else by then but for now I'm loving every mile.

Good Job on video, I have a question on regenerative braking, so I take it the electric motor is the driver when electric power is needed when driving away from a traffic light in town. & when approaching the next stop light needing to stop the motor becomes a the stator which is driven by the rear driveshaft per say to charge back (becomes a stator) the battery voltage in-turn charging the battery on deceleration? Correct... How much does the Battery cost for replacement from the dealership $? and or are there sources available to aftermarket purchase a new battery from? I am aware of the 8 year battery warranty period, BUT is it pro-rated warranty & cover replacement warranty labor To R&R and test the battery?? Have a good day and thanks. Tim

Tim, you have the basic idea behind the hybrid mode on the PowerBoost. The electric motor actually plays quite an active role behind the scenes, like climbing hills. I can see this watching my gauges via the TORQUE app. As far as replacement cost? I don't know, have never seen one needing replacement yet. I think they might be $2400, but that should be under warranty. The rest of your questions would be better suited to Ford themselves, I just drive one man! 🙂 If the hybrid system gives you too much angst then get the 2.7L ecoboost, could be the best engine they make and has similar economy numbers to the hybrid. cheers

I've had a 2023 for 4 weeks now, also a 157 wheelbase. I've already put 1600 miles and that includes a week iced-in with the truck in generator mode running the house. We've pretty much quit driving my wife's Highlander, the truck is more comfortable and gets better mileage. It is an impressive set-up. I'd had to agree with pretty much everything you say in the video, though my tail gate is a power release and while it doesn't have power close, it feels very light. Things I would add, the adaptive cruise control does a better job typically of regenerative breaking than I do, and in many conditions, between the cruise control and lane-keeping, the truck will pretty much drive itself.

Yes, I see this every day. The oil pressure drops to zero because the internal combustion engine has stopped running. Look at your tachometer next time this happens and you'll see that the rpm for the motor has dropped to zero. The hybrid engine will try to move you on battery power and will only kick in the engine as you need it, which also brings the oil pressure back up again.

That is normal. Check valve closed oil system in a hybrid engine because lubricate hold in the crankshaft and other bearings before starting the engine easily. It is about 7 PSI. while EV mode. @@fixorrepairdiy4609

First off, in "tow" mode the engine does not shut off IIRC. So there's always engine braking available in addition to regenerative braking in addition to the hydraulic brakes themselves. But if it's on the Internet it must be true. :-)

I’m afraid the 1 to 3 shift jerk you talk about is a ford software issue. My 2011 ecoboost with the 6R80 has had that since the recall or service bulletin from 2015 that reflashed the PCM and in my opinion led to the demise of my truck. It never did that before that time and I am now dealing with a computer controlled power failure issue. Anyways I am shopping for my next f150 and not planning on keeping it as long as this one (12 years 141,000 miles in western and northern NY). Electronics have ruined the longevity of vehicles in my opinion.

It would be great if they had placed the oil filter in the same place as they did on the 2.7 EB, it loads from the top.

Nice video, actually thinking of trading in my current pickup truck (2016 Chevy Colorado w/2.8L diesel) for one of these. The fad of owning a diesel truck is starting to wear out with the much higher cost of diesel and diesel never having fuel discounts anymore like gas does. My truck has been in the shop at chevy awaiting parts for 2 months for transmission issues while I've been in a full size gas loaner pickup. This is the 3rd time its had transmission issues since i bought it CPO, so my trust in the transmission going forward has me concerned. Anyways, a feature i really want in a new truck is adaptive cruise control. How are you liking it on yours? also is their any featureues you wish you got when ordering?

Hi William, my XLT Sport has pretty much everything that I wanted. I guess the only thing that I miss by having an XLT vs. a Lariat would be not having the "4Auto" mode. I do have 4H and 4L but the XLT does not have 4A. Everything else is great.

@@fixorrepairdiy4609 Honestly i think i would be happier with an XLT, paying far less for the truck... but i have yet to find an XLT with the one feature i really want... and that is bluecruise. I currently drive 1h20mins to work each way until the housing market corrects and housing becomes more affordable near my job location and when i drive another vehicle i have access to, the adaptive cruise control is just game changing for me.. it completely removed most of the stress and tire i got driving so far to work and home from work.

@@fixorrepairdiy4609 im guessing either most dealerships don't mentioned the package or most people who order XLT don't buy it with adaptive cruise. If i do a search for an XLT w/4x4 and Adaptive Cruise on Ford website it shows none within 100 miles of me matching, if i do a search on autotrader the closest one is 268 miles away from me.

@@williamhustonrn6160 Ford has really clamped down on some of the upgraded features that you used to be able to buy on the mid-grade trim like XLT. I think I might have been one of the last XLT models to receive 360 degree cameras, which I think is essential. They are forcing people to upgrade trim due to the chip shortage that they are still dealing with. You might have to "Lariat" if you find those features necessary. Disclaimer: I am out of the ordering "loop" now so I'm just passing along things that I heard during my wait. Hopefully a dealer knows more. The ordering process can be incredibly complex if you don't know exactly what you want.

My 2022 f150 5.0l was delivered in September (ordered in early April). My biggest surprise was discovering that Ford had deleted my "connected Nav and Serius" supposedly due to chip shortage. They knocked off a whole $200!. If I had been notified before delivery I would canceled the order and shopped for a 2021. Making do with Android Auto but would rather just have what I ordered.

Yes Paul there were a number of things that Ford had to cut to get those trucks from piling up at the yards. Honestly I don’t know why any auto mfg spends time on Nav anymore as the majority of consumers run off of carplay or AA. I use AA and it’s been exceptionally stable in my truck, even better with new coolwalk update. I used to have to pay Honda $150/yr for a nav update dvd for my Odyssey navigation. I can’t see going back to auto-based nav again.

I’m in the market for a pickup and I’m kind of hesitant on PowerBoost due to some reports of not being reliable. Of all the trucks, I like what powerboost offers (7.2 generator). Please let me know if anyone has issues with this model.

sure you're going to get some reports of unreliability with any vehicle. In fact, the more technologically complex the vehicle, the more likely it is to have some issues. (fortunately I've had none in two years other than a soft 12V battery) Ask around the forums and subreddits and the thing that you notice is that you do NOT hear from people that have a reliable vehicle...while anyone having the slightest issue is going to tell the world about it.
