excellent! ... what I still have trouble doing is for example in a portrait, leaving only the subject in color and the background in black and white. it's something that I did very easily in Lr and in C1 it's quite difficult for me. I think that the tools of color in Lr maybe are more limited, but they are easier to use than those of C1 ... greetings
@ScottWilliamsPhotography5 жыл бұрын
Hi Christian. Here are a couple of ways to solve your problem. 1 create a layer and use the brush tool to mask it. Then invert the layer and reduce the saturation. 2 If the subject is a single colour then use the advanced colour picker to select a colour. Set the ranges and then invert the colour selection. Now just reduce the saturation of that colour selection. Hope that helps.

Hi Claire. Thanks for the comment. One tip I can give you is to add a touch of clarity to any eyeball to give it a little pop. What film curve would you suggest ? Film standard? Linear response? Cheers
@ScottWilliamsPhotography6 жыл бұрын
I always use linear response.I like to have a more neutral starting point for my edits. Also, I find that the film curve can over saturate the shadows. Especially when you are trying to recover detail from them.
@bongiss6 жыл бұрын
Im shooting fuji and use ettr. But using linear response, the images are like 1 to 2 stops under expose. Is this normal? Should i adjust how i capture photos? Cheers
@ScottWilliamsPhotography6 жыл бұрын
With the linear curve they will appear under exposed by default. Just up the exposure slider until they look correct. You will not need to change your exposure in camera. If you press CTRL+L to auto correct you will get a good starting point for your adjustments.
@bongiss6 жыл бұрын
I didnt know the ctrl + L trick. Will do that. Thank you

Thanks for the reply scott! I will try to contact them. I've been watching tutorials to do cloning and I don't have layers. Maybe it's just me but I think lightroom is still better than this software
@ScottWilliamsPhotography6 жыл бұрын
I personally think Capture One is way better than Lightroom. Due to it's speed and the way it handles colour. I can just get better results from it. And also its cataloging systems are way more advanced. But it may not be the best fit for everyone. I mainly use Affinity Photo and Luminar 3 to do things that Capture One can't do. If you are after something more like Lightroom then maybe you should check out Luminar 3, ON1 Photo Raw 2019 or Alienware Exposure X4. You may find one that suits. Or just stick with Lightroom. Lightroom really is very good.
@BikeLife1546 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the recommendations! I've just bought the Fuji xt3 and my lightroom 5 will no longer recognize the files so I need to decide what software I'm going to purchase. I guess LR has become so comfortable now and intuitive something I'm not finding with capture 1 and affinity for Ipad. I wish there was one program that was a combination of many!
@ScottWilliamsPhotography6 жыл бұрын
@@BikeLife154 Congratulations on getting the X-T3. It is a fantastic camera. I'm currently looking to upgrade from my a6300 and at the moment the a7iii and the X-T3 are the two cameras in the running. Capture one will give you superb sharpening for the X-T3 without the wormy effect of Lightroom sharpening. I had a thought. Have you installed "Capture One Express Fujifilm" instead of "Capture One Pro 12" for Fuji. The express version is free but has no layer support. Capture One Pro 12 for Fuji should have layer support in the trial version.
