@@robertwoods3750 Yes, 'War of the Worlds' was a major production in comparison to 'Invaders from Mars'. Very well done, but 'Invaders' had its own flare. It's a tough call, but 'The Day The Earth Stood Still' is probably my favorite science fiction film. It had the greatest impact on me when I was very young. I saw it when it first aired on broadcast TV (early 60s?).

Absolute Masterpiece by every measure. One of the handful of films that absolutely set the standard for everything to come . The effects , especially the landing sequence still holds up today as some of the finest physical effects that Hollywood was capable of back when they had real hands on , inventiveness , and genius. They didn't throw every problem at a computer back then . They had real artistic ability. I sure wish someone today would attempt to create a sci - fi film with absolutely NO computers, CGI, or digital effects . Maybe , if they take the time , and find just the right artists , they will create a masterpiece too. Lord knows I sure haven't seen one in a long while.

@rochford59, Morality is something absent in most cultures, some more than others. The shoot first and ask questions later rule following military, and police is really no different now. The United Nations are about as unholy of a group as they come because nobody is united. Morals are absent in every aspect of society with corporate greed being the driving factor behind most decisions. Most people are so programmed by the Tell A Vision now they can't even figure out what sex they are let alone anything else like critical thinking skills. The entire science FICTION in movies was to program people into thinking we can go to some distant world. We can't go anywhere, we never will go anywhere because governments are into controlling the masses, indoctrinating our youth, and several generations of young people are devoid of any morals, decency, or discretion.

He is seemingly capable of performing miracles. He is betrayed by a man hoping for great wealth. He is imprisoned, and later killed. He is resurrected from the dead, and repeats his message, this time with a warning. He then ascends into the sky. His name is Carpenter. Sound like any other story you know? The plot of the film was actually based on the story of Jesus.

One thing in common with the old and the new version of this movie is that the US government casually (and contemptuously) disregarded Klaatu's explicit request to speak to the UN's assembled representatives of all nations on earth. Then the US fired first and distorted Klaatu's message to the entire world. If a remake were ever produced a third time, the spacecraft ought to land in Shanghai or New Delhi, and present a different script to show how those nations could react, in the name of our species.

@stephenhill8790, The so called environmental, or climate change lie is to get people to go along with the one world order of control. Pretty much all of the science fiction in movies programs people to accept the governments version of events as fact. The ones doing the most environmental damage is the governments themselves, weather control, control of all media and the narrative, and of course starting endless wars to make a lot of money for corporate greed. This cycle of violence by the governments against the people must stop but it will never stop because of the evil forces behind every institution, and system of government. Even the foundations of morality have been distorted and even corrupted by the religions, which are in and of themselves other means of controlling the masses. The poisoning of the water, food, and the the corruption from everything from the financial, to the medical system must stop. The most basic way to understand at what point we are as a society worldwide, is simply Revelation 9:21.The entire world would not repent of their murders(abortion, wars, poisoning everything), they would not repent of their sorcery( pharmacy, fluoride in drinking water, GMO foods etc. the list is quite long), their sexual immorality( gays, pronouns, sexual perversion, children being sexually abused,etc.etc.) and of course the massive theft by a few large corporations the likes to which have never been seen( The Federal Reserve, IMF, banks, corporations like Amazon, so called "communications"companies, the list is quite long). Another words the simple way to understand why society is about to implode is because nobody wants to deviate from their total lack of moral values. People also lack the decency, common sense, and moral values needed to further humanity as a whole. Sheeple just staring at screens, redundant communications, and a bunch of lazy people to consumed with social media, and sensationalism, to even function on even the most basic levels of decency or respect for others. The science fiction mind control in movies even paints a picture that people could all get along (like a star trek federation), but the reality is people will never get along absent of morals towards one another. It's not even about religion so much is it's about a spiritual sickness in people's hearts, that can't and never will be fixed by any political solution. It must come from people's hearts, without that most of humanity will be wiped out by the so called "elite", which are neither elite, special, or decent in any way. The controllers are the ones who have to go, and the people need to understand who the real enemy is, and quit fighting and killing one another in wars and political nonsense, and doing the one world orders dirty work for them.

Oddly enough, he never thought to ask me if I knew, even though I had named my cat Katu Barada Neko (neko being Japanese for cat).😄

I was a boy when Star Wars Return of the Jedi was released. The corresponding action figure toys of Jabba the Hutt’s henchmen in the Sarlacc Pit scene were named Klaatu, Barada, and Nikto. They were eventually eventually forced to change all three names due to copyright laws. But if I remember correctly, they were able to use the names for the anniversary reissue around 1997-1998. (There was a fourth one named Weequay which HAS to be a reference to the character Queequeg, the tattooed harpooner from Moby Dick. But that’s a tale for another time!)
