There is a federal statute for consumer protection that I do not shoot many videos about. It is the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). It is a massively complicated federal protection law that tries to provide oversight on Credit Reporting Agencies and give consumers who have been harmed by incorrect credit information a right to sue.
It is MASSIVELY complicated.
The whole credit reporting industry has spawned additional industries, like
Tenant Screening Report companies. These companies sell credit reports to potential landlords who rely on them for accuracy in deciding whether (or not) to lease a home to someone. (Maybe you.)
The problem, and solution, is that often these reports are wrong. They can be wrong because the credit report is wrong or because the Tenant Screening Report company messed something up.
Either way, if you were denied housing because of a credit issues that was NOT RIGHT, you have been harmed and the FCRA allows you to sue for damages. And attorney's fees.
And other kinds of relief. These cases can be very powerful tools to put your life back in order after the devastation of a denial.
