This series follow a fiction and tbh the first wife is the worst nightmare shiyi has. She chose shiyi because she was 12 which is easy to control+ can’t give off offsprings and her mother colluded to force shiyi into drinking harmful medicine to ruin her body from any chance of pregnancy. Shiyi nearly died from giving birth to her child later. This is how it is in the fiction.

I just love the sound of our main female lead's voice! Although its a lower pitch to what I usually be hearing in other c-dramas, I actually love it! Her voice is so soft and melodic to listen to. I kind of prefer this over those high pitchy dubbed tones (thank god they allowed her to dubb her own voice in this series). LOL! Tang Song Yun is so BEAUTIFUL in this drama and her character is so smart! Although I love Wallace Chung, and he is so freaking handsome in this drama, I don't know why but I keep picturing Ren Jialun in this drama hahahaha!!! Every time Tang Song Yun pops up I feel like Lu Yi (Ren Jialun) is going to turn the corner and they're going to bump into each other HAHAHA! I'm still not over "Under the Power" c-drama, LOL!

The first wife is a force. None of them, the Marquis, Great Madam, concubines can hold a candle when she holds the stick/power... All of the others seemed wary/scared of her. It's very normal for Historical Dramas to be dubbed. I usually prefer Historical Dramas with dubbers and Modern Dramas with the actors' real voices. But it is definitely refreshing when you get to hear their real voices in Historicals. I actually liked the voice dubber selected for Tan Song Yun in Under the Power. If you didn't know how she actually sounded, it could have passed for her real voice. :)

yeah it does remind me of Minglan but tbh the Minglan drama paid a lot more attention to the social etiquette of the time - you would never see Minglan being alone with another man like the lead is here, how shocking 🤣 *fake horror*
