Same for me back when I started collecting back in late 1991 (Akira was my first tape, but it would be two years later before I started buying again with Tenchi and Ranma tapes), but I'm glad we get anime releases on the same day/week nowadays. That was always my dream back in 1998+ I still buy BDs of my absolute favorites too!

It's been almost 20 years since I've seen this opening in high quality. I still have the DVD box set of the OVAs from 2000. Some things don't get old, they age like fine wine. Tenchi Muyo is one of them.

I’ll be perfectly honest; while I was an otaku since I was young, I never actually watched Tenchi Muyo as a kid. I was into Sailor Moon before everything else. But I heard this song recently in another video (namely, an animation by PM Seymour), and it’s quickly become one of my favourite feel-good wholesome songs. It makes me feel really warm inside knowing there are people who grew up with a song like this who feel nostalgia when they hear it again, and I wish I could know exactly what that’s like.

@darienreaper They did make a new Tenchi Muyo OVA that is apart of this shows Canon. Tenchi Muyo Ryo-Ohki. They managed to get most of the original English cast back for it save for Ryoko. Her original voice actress had retired by the time so they had to use someone else for it.

always loved this song(gives me sailor moon & slayers vibes.be cool if along with rumiko takahashi's works such as urusei yatsura/ranma they crossed over with tenchi muyo.) and i remember back when tenchi muyo was my favorite anime i saw on toonami along with the 1st anime i bought on vhs whenever i listen.(favorite harem series along with monster musume,especially since rachnera reminds me a lot of ryoko.:3) i remember a poll from megahouse that had ryoko as one of the picks and would totally love to see megahouse make a figurine line up of the main cast.

probably because in OVA 2, they foreshadow(introduce one of them) the 3 goddess. one of which is Tsunami whom is fused with Sasami. This merger was revealed in ova 2 as well
