I personally like some of the things from this game a little better than Wrath of Heaven, namely: 1. The double stealth kill animations; 2. Some exclusive and greatly useful skills for stealth purpose; 3. For Rin's case, her grappling hook combo is slightly easier to do than Rikimaru's, and since her combo ender doesn't send the enemy flying, she can still do another damage to the enemy; 4. Alternative stages with slightly different outcomes; 5. For better or worse, Jyuzo is far more challenging to defeat than Tenrai; and the best of it all, 6. The ability to restart the mission. Other than that? Wrath of Heaven is still a little better. WoH, for one, has different storylines for each protagonist. It also feels like it has much more contents than FS.

Yeah, totally agree with you. Also, Wrath of Heaven has multiplayer, which is very fun to play. Most of the bosses from Fatal Shadows are more challenging than the ones from WoH, which i like it a lot. Btw, both of these games are awesome on their ways.

I feel like in terms of intertwined stories. I think Tenchu 2 was the coolest because of the cross overs. The parts where there are allies and foes in some stages. Made it seem more dynamic. And swimming underwater was a pretty cool edition. Although it was a bit clunky compared to the first tenchu surprisingly. Man I wish I knew about this Tenchu growing up!

I definitely love the poetic and philosophical approach this game took even with the motives of the final boss. I might have an unpopular opinion but I really like fatal shadows rather than wrath of heaven. I feel like this version is very grounded in reality compared to WoH, it doesn’t explore any supernatural or spooky themes/legends from japanese folklore. Also ayame is very pretty in this version

Fatal Shadows kinda bring that throwback feeling from Tenchu 2, with some stages from Tenchu 1, Bougestu Cave and Shishiya Border. I also agree with you, Ayame is way more beautiful here than in Wrath of Heaven

It's my favorite, too. When I was growing up my favorite movie was Kill Bill. When this game came out, it had alot of the same story beats and vengeance stories have me in a choke hold.

It's called Sekiro. Initially the game mean to be a Tenchu Game. But since they developed new game mechanic and story, they made it into Sekiro instead.

I hope the remake of Tenchu 1 comes out, hopefully if it comes out it will be for the next generation. They said they don't rule it out, but at least for this generation it will be focused on Elden Ring and other titles. ​@@HashimotoSeiraVTuber

one thing I like about this Tenchu is the fact that if you put this on hard mode which i usually do in any Tenchu, guards become very high in awareness, aggressive, persistent and have some ridiculous eyesight, in short, getting a highest rank is truly challenging, stealth kill is recommended because guards can be so annoying to fight in brute force with their constant grabbing and those fvckin drill tops,

I'm amazed so many people didnt give this game a chance just because Rikimaru wasnt in it. This game is criminally underrated and I think it's just as important as the previous 3 games. You beating this game in 2 hours though?? I know its a run through with all the items, skills and knowledge of the maps but that is CRAZY 😂 great job and thanks for posting!! PS, I think if they ever rerelease this game, the Japanese voices should be the default. Japanese voices are top notch in this game!

I actually like the previous one (WOH) because the story contains supranatural thingy, how handsome and beauty the playable character, secret and co-op mission and many things I like from that series. But for fatal shadow, I actually like some point. First, you can swim in this series. Secondly, ayame has more outfit and we can change it as long it's unlocked. Third, since because this series doesn't have playable male character. I was thinking this series made for women XD

Technically this is the hardest Tenchu stealth game, and if u want a real challenge , use your brain , this is the one. It can be quite infuriating , specially since its directed by FSoftware, but its still a good tenchu eh, the essence is there and reminds me of tenchu 1 difficulty

Totally, also, I don't know if you noticed, but there are 2 stages from Tenchu 1 that got reintroduced in this game. Bougestu cave, the cave where you need to rescue the captive ninja on Tenchu 1, either Rikimaru or Ayame and Shishiya Border, the mission that you need to cross the checkpoint and face Tazo and her brother

I recently started replaying Tenchu Return from darkness (Xbox) with Xenia and im realising that the 1st level, is also a the original stage 1 from tenchu 1. The pink dude with a handgun is the same dude as the pink dude that appear in the 1st game, and Echigoya both beeing fat and using guns , both beg for their life too when low hp. Years playing this franchise as a kid and i didnt notice till now, the small details make huge differences. BY THE WAY!! Are you aware that a New Tenchu IP is beeing in development by Acquire and Kadokawa team? IT has been comfirmed this april 2024 in the last famitsu interview, u can read it in google if u search for it. Take care!

Nice gameplay! It reminded me when I was in high school, I played this game day and night. The bosses are so difficult to beat until I got used to parrying and grapple (for Rin). There is one thing in this game bothering me. At 1:49:41 , someone touches Ayame's shoulder, I believe the person is Rin by some sort of testing but I don't understand why she does this. Do you have any idea about this?

I've gotta a theory, i think that hand It could be Rikimaru because since this game take place after the events of Tenchu 1 and before 3, Ayame thinks this is some signal to return home and feels that something is gonna happen and it did, Rikimaru returns on Tenchu 3, also after this, she picks Kiku's bell . That's my theory, but i could be wrong lol

While i enjoyed this game for the quality of life improvements and new mechanics I think Wrath of Heaven is still better, like: -There were 3 campains in WoH, here are only 2, i dont hate Rin but I missed Rikimaru -There was a multiplayer in WoH wich was simple but silly and fun, here they dropped all that and added a weird boring boss rush mode -This is a stupid reason but the WoH had a wonderful CGI opening wich inspired me to keep trying the levels until I mastered the game, here while the music of the opening is good is only a bunch of gameplay and cutscenes mashed together so I suppose they where low on budget this time -And lastly I dont know but the atmosphere, music and level design of WoH was better imo, I may be nostalgia but thats how i remember it xD

I once tried to play this only for the first 3 chapters but never finished it, after being used with Tenchu 3. And it's the first time I follow the game until the end Here are my impressions: -The story is cringey, - the narrator is cringey, - the preview thing is cringey, - the sound effect is cringey, - the music is forgettable - the level design is also forgettable - the stealth kill move is exaggerated, (except Ayame head twisting), - the boss design and ability is lame, - and the switching play as Rin and Ayame in each chapter is confusing (they should just focus on Rin instead), - And why Zennosuke is still alive and hiring Tesshu? And the things I appreciate: - the guards are more cautious and smarter than Tenchu 3 - swimming ability - carrying dead body to hide or lure the guard - double stealth kill - Ayame becomes hot Knowing this, I don't regret not finishing this game, but at least I finally know what this game is about Thank you for showing this game play
