Used to be scared shitless by the stage, music, and enemy design when I was a kid. Guess my parents didn't know the leaps video games had when I was growing up from "Mario." But now I like the music. Sounds badass. You really feel like a ninja on a mission.

For your information, the sound effect of those naked dancing beaches were much more disturbing in the original version(Japanese version). I can't describe it but it sounded like a dark chanting, maybe the English version publisher felt it too disturbing so replaced it with simple "Ahhh".

Me and my dad played this together like 20 years ago and my dad underestimated the fire breather. He was like what the fuck is that thing. Then it turned around and lit him up while wearing a thong. All we heard was “whoa hee ya” and it was game over 😂😂😂💀💀💀

I heard babies crying in this level, But I don’t know what the Manji cult were planning. All I know is that the Manji were going from temple to temple building an army of zombie like followers, And they would start attacking villages and towns and cities if Rikimaru or Ayame didn’t terminate the cult and recover the stone. But they did after defeating On who’s the head of the cult and she hid it inside of her stomach.

the loading screen alone creeped me out to the point I didn't want to play this stage, but after managing to get over that fear years later (ended up skipping this level with cheats) and actually playing it, it wasn't that bad in gameplay, heck the first boss's voice made me crack up laughing. though one still creepy thing I did come to learn, the zombies in this level, their movements were mo-caped, a real world person danced those movements they use in this game.
