Hello, I hope you are all well. I'm back again after a horrible January, we had over a week of very hard frosts which meant I couldn't garden (at all!) and then I picked up an infection which seems to have gone now but that took a couple of weeks to get over. Thankfully everything is looking up now, I've been gardening again at the Old Manor House, there is so much to do before Spring so in this video I'm making a start by replanting an area of the walled garden, trimming the Hawthorn tree(s), the Box hedges and getting everything looking spic and span. My little helper came along too and he wanted to say "Hello" to you! I've included a few flashbacks to last Spring to keep you all hopeful and there are already a few plants flowering or getting ready to.
Thanks for watching and for supporting my channel - Happy Gardening!

Justin! 😃 So lovely to find a new video by you! And look at you, wielding all those power tools!! 😉 You'd never say they were heavy, looking at you! 💪 With all those trees and 200m of hedge to trim, you surely need them! 😅 Aww Benny is so sweet, looking for cuddles and saying hello! You have a lovely friend there! 🐈🐾 The new garden is going to look a real picture once everything starts to flourish - which it will! And I'm sure your new patch in the walled garden is going to look not only beautiful, but interesting too with all those textures and colours. I like how you cluster things together - I've been trying that this past six or so months and it definitely looks much better than what I was trying to do previously (bumble along in rows - how amateur! 🙈🤣). I look forward to your hanging basket video too! We had about 2 or 3 lovely weeks of rain, and everything took off wonderfully, and then searing heat set in again here - our weather has changed, and not for the better 🙄 Some days I just pick the rose blooms so that at least they don't get scorched; ordinarily I prefer to see them on the bushes, but they don't stand a chance in this horrid heat. Having said that, it IS drizzling a bit this evening, and I spotted a big frog hopping across the middle of my lawn - seeing that happy little (big!) frog made ME happy, and smile broadly! I'm praying we'll get a good soaking overnight tonight 🙏 I forgot about Facebook - I'm horrible at it, but I'll really try to improve and see what you've been up to there! 😊 I hope you're well on the way to recovery and will be feeling 100% within a couple of days. Take good care of yourself and have a lovely weekend. I hope I've remembered everything I wanted to say! PS That sounded so sad "and all the daffodils snapped" 😳 I love daffs!! They're so cheerful! Although not those ones, I guess... 🙈

It sounds like you are up against it with the heat, I'm glad we don't have it so hot here, only on a very very rare occassion. I have seen it where the sun bleaches the colours out of the flowers. I just put plants where I can fit them, but I do try to make sure they blend in and the season of interest is longer by getting the flowering times correct. I'm feeling much better now, and have been out and about visiting nice places and gardening too. The sun has been out the last two days and it's been so uplifting to see it when all have had is grey skies and low light levels. The daffodils looked lovely but it was shame when the snow weighed them down, they never recovered. Happy Gardening 😊

@@justinthegardener I'm so glad you're feeling better, and have had some sunshine for a couple of days! Enjoy it! 😄 Yes, still very hot and dry here - it seems to brew up for a storm but then blows away. Very disappointing, but there's nothing to be done about it. Take care 😊🌺

We do have blight, and I did notice the caterpillars last year so I'm keeping a very close eye out for them. Box is a big problem but it would be a bigger problem to replace it all!
