12.45 the power of a professional singer. Reminds me of when I went for voice lessons with a professional and he would really let it out. It was humbling. True singer leaves you in no doubt when they sing. This is the goal.

to my point both singers have world class voices. Young tenor sounds like spinto, maestro like dramatic. Thank you Maestro for generously sharing your great expertise

Sure, my passagio zone is C and I'm a tenor.Many voices were damaged because of this ignorance. Of course there are typical cases where that old rule works and there are majority of them.

I can so feel with the guy, even though I didn't study singing at a university! But I learned singing with a "speech level singing", i.e. falsett approach, and in parallel took singing lessons with a teacher who made me sing in full voice. The only way to do that was to use more diaphragm and less or no action in the voicebox area. I still haven't given up the falsetto style of singing, because it's so easy on the diaphragm ;) But I've never managed to sing well in it.

Wow....what a beautiful voice. To be perfectly honest, this guy is more of a Baritone than a Tenor. When he sings middle notes, he is WAY more comfortable, relaxed and at ease. Those high notes are pretty high for him, it doesn't sound comfortable. Yes, he did hit a C5 but anything above G#4/A4 is unstable and shaky right now.

He is actually a dramatic tenor who is trying to develop and may be transitioning. It is a hard thing to do. He could be a heldentenor that can sing in a tessitura that associates with roles like Tristan, Parsifal, and Siegmund.

@@bradleymonroe6443 right you are. I sounded just like this when I was transitioning to a Heldentenor
@jarto10
@jarto10 Жыл бұрын
@@baritoneblazzin1965 Your voice having baritone tessitura doesn't mean you automatically have the weight, power and darkness required to be a heldentenor. Usually heldentenors are 6'2" and above tall barrel chested men with extremely wide 50"+ inch rib cages(relaxed) and an overly large frame with a distinctively masculine type of timbre to match that 99.99% of voices(any type) just don't have while also possessing the pipes to make it sound in a powerhouse fashion. If you want assessment on it I recommend you'd upload some recordings of yours. Authentic natural heldentenors are Penno, Vinay, Melchior, Vickers, Suthaus, Windgassen.

You remind me some teachers who don't understand what they are talking about. First you have to understand what do you(or or teacher) means by pushing "Too much chest register". Appoggio does not think in terms of registers but unity of registers called -chiaro-scuro tone. if your voice becomes woofy then the balance is broken and then one can say "too much chest". Usually small classical voices don't use chiaro-scuro mix and instead start mixing at passagio-not an appoggio aproach

not exactly:) forhead resonance associated with chiaro or mask should not be separated, as I say in the lesson chiaro-scuro presence should be everywhere in the voice.

Wasn't he a baritenor who can sing from the bass baritone range to the lyric tenor range and had a potential to become a dramatic tenor/heldentenor. I started as a baritone who is now a tenor who could be a lirico spinto tenor who is having a potiential to become a heldentenor. I am taking voice lessons and learning how my acoustics are sounding and what I can do to become a better singer even if starting as a medium low voice and retraining as a high voice who is more comfortable on mostly the medium high and sometimes high repretoire.

Maestro Tenelli, thanks for posting this video - it complements your videos on the theory of singing very well. I think there is some confusion about how a voice should sound while it is still being trained - a baritone in training can sound like a tenor and vice versa but when support is correct and resonance is balanced the voice will settle into balanced chiaroscuro. That's why so many successful singers changed fach when their supported voice became secure :) - Domingo, Carlo Bergonzi etc.

Honestly, I don't believe that classical vocals can be learned through Internet. Voice gets processed through mike and mike is a big lie. Nobody will be able to tell a big voice from a small one plus voice timber in natural acoustic place sound different. For mike users, no problem. For coaching(Interpretation) no problem. For classical voice placement-big problem because it has to be done live in acoustic environment.

Is he still a dramatic tenor? I am hearing him going from C3 to C5 and then sings a baritone's aria.
@hanj31

Bradley Monroe a lot of dramatic tenors can be cast for a light baritone role because their voices are really loud if they sing a tenor role. Dramatic tenors also would be a baritone in choir because they would be too loud in the tenor range

@tenellifranco
@tenellifranco 11 жыл бұрын
because dramatic tenors sound more balanced in student productions of opera as baritones and they are often cast as such. If he sings tenor in Handel or Mozart operas he will be 3 times louder the other singers. Capisce? :)

Joao Aurelio Nevertheless, you may notice, that the last chest note for the majority of tenors is Bflat, there are many tenors with the High B but without stable High C, me being spinto face the same the same problem, for example.

He sounds more like a tenor comfortable Wagnerian singing roles like Tristan, Parsifal, and Siegmund. Possibly Loge. He is definetly a schwerer heldentenor. He would be temporarly comfortable in the baritone range but then may decide to sing tenor range repertoire when he begins singing Wagner.

That guy is a tenor. Even his speaking voice says he's a tenor. His chiaro probably comes easily because he's balky. I'd have him sing those lower not more with a a smile as oppose to what he's doing now and the rest is OK. He's got a very good voice imo.
