"It's not just the conditions that people faced, but it was what they did with those conditions." So true and thank you to the Tenement Museum for preserving, telling, and celebrating these stories.

I think a smart thing would be to watch every single video detailing all the behind the scenes work that went into keeping the building ALIVE just like the Lady said! I just LOVE the kids!!

That was an excellent presentation. We've been fans of the Tenement Museum for years. The look at the development of the museum was new and fascinating. Loved the new additions and the look to the future. We love that our donation supports such great, valuable preservation of American History.

My great grandfather went to stay in NY around 1906 with the intention of settling and having his wife and 2 kids brought over from Scotland.......he managed to find work (he was a machine mechanic) however he was very homesick and he said NY was filthy, full of drunks, prostitutes and cockroaches LOL........He managed to hold out for just 8 months and decided to come back to Scotland.......i wouldn't be here if he hadnt :) There's a beautiful tenement museum in Glasgow, Scotland for anyone wishing to visit and there is Beamish living museum in North of England,uk..check out yt clips for them both.

I'm telling you I can't wait to see the Tenement Museum! I'm grabbing my new girlfriend and we are going to see every floor! I used to live at I think 33 Allen Street. Near Division Street. Near Canal. Tiny walk up. Oh so CHARMING! The very nice Landlord ran a Hosiery store in the front of the building whose address was 33 0rchard. Same building!
