I seldom comment on instructional videos, but I feel the need to here. I'm a 58 year old male, and began playing about 6 months ago. I'm retired so I have lots of free time now to practice, and I'm enjoying it very much. You have been such a huge part of my learning experience, and I want to say "Thank You". You are a very talented player, and teacher and I truly appreciate all that you do. " Thank You" again for this channel. May God bless you always🙏

Go for it matey, dont get discouraged! Ime 60 and though guitar is only a "moderate" amount of my lifestyle i started 45 odd years ago and am not bad at all:) I dont use theory anymore or read music or tabs. I play by ear as i did even when young and playing keyboards too and had to read music then:/. Ive forgotten how now:) This young fella is a very well set up and good teacher for one so young! I suppose if you want to be REALLY good, you have to devote your life to it. As so many do. Ive had too much else to do to get much farther than advanced intermediate but ime spending more time now, like 3 hours a day most of the time for the last few years.. It takes some time to get your fingers tough enough for this!. Even with thick pads i sand down smooth i remember a 12 hour session[all night] learning "Carolina in my mind" where my fingertips went numb from nerve damage for weeks. Quite a worry, lol I think ive forgotten a LOT of what ive learned over the decades with some quite long periods when i barely touched a guitar. 12 years in Thailand i got to play one night a week at a bar, that was hard to take, but with all THE camera and surf gear i could not carry a guitar too,lol [i did get home a few months a year though:)]May i suggest a channel that is a VERY good by a great[pisses me off sometimes, lol] muso named "Paul Davids" A great teacher and SO MUCH content at all levels! Guy can play anything:/ Smartass, lol. Very nice guy though:)These days i play electric acoustic in a number of styles. Like fingerpicking a lot, Challenging stuff by James Taylor[so bloody hard to duplicate:/] He has lessons up. HARD WORK man!! Mark Knopfler, Lindsay Buckingham, Tommy Emmanuel[frustration time, lol] and others. But i do spend most of my time on original stuff. Ive been getting a serious urge to buy another electric. I suppose as i age i will spend more and more time playing and learning. That never stops[but you do forget a lot over the decades as ive said] I just thank decades of playing on and off[travelled a lot] have my fingers so loose and things come so easily[comparitevly, i still have to work hard for a lot off stuff!] Funny how over the years riffs ive made up i suddenly hear nearly identically sometimes years later in songs. Nothing new under the sun, its getting harder and harder to find original licks, lol. Big love by Lindsay BUckingham, check out his lone live performance. How the hell he plays that riff and sings too has got me stuffed, lol Check out james taylors lesson 6 and try it. I play the chords he shows the same way, always have, but it took me 12 hours to get this sounding right, not as good as him, but good enough:) Now it comes easily, weird. Same with Knopflers "privateering". Sounds so hard, and it takes a lot of getting it to "click" but then, its not that hard either. getting it to sound just like Mark is of course not easy, but we all do our interpretations. Try Tash Sultana, another lone looper performer[Aussie like me:) Talented lady:) Love Ed, shows how a good but not great guitarist can be an awesome performer in these days of live looping! People say you can either sing or not.. WRONG. Ed was SHITFUL when young. He played some of his very early stuff on a phone in an interview. OMG,lol. Terrible as he admits.. PRACTICE PRACTICE in whatever you put your mind too is the only way forward, though for singing i think genetics is a big factor, hmm, i suppose it is in any corner of music too! To some it comes easy, some have perfect pitch[or close], A CURSE i tell you:/ You are just not happy unless thing are perfectly tuned, which on a guitar, is impossible, a compromise instrument like many, piano included. Songs you hear, you hear every tiny little not quite in tune stuff! A big tip man. When you tune your guitar if you cant do it by ear, get a tuner with CENT increments! a "cent" is one hundreth of a half step. Normal tuners are useless:/ Tune it like this, this is the best compromise on a guitar as many very good musos will tell you..IF you bother looking. Few do/ Low E.. 12 cents flat...A..10 cents flat...D...8 cents flat...G..4 cents flat...B...6 cents flat...High E...3 cents flat!! Check it out and see how nice a guitar that maybe you were never quite happy with sounds! ESPECIALLY, but not just, for capo work! Wish you many happy times as you start your journey:)

Nicely and clearly done young fella:) Wish i had a quarter of your gear, but photography stuff expenses and surf trips away makes it slow to "reaccumulate" analog stuff i had decades ago.So much great stuff available now, especially for people like me who prefer working alone. Came here just for the bridge which i had forgotten:) Also picked up some nice tips, we are always learning from each other, and these days of youtube make it so much easier. You got it dead right SHOWING your fingering clearly, makes it so much easier than having someone try to EXPLAIN his fingering only.WEll broken down, a great lesson for those who need it all:) I cant live loop at the moment, the RC3 is so bloody limited, wish i"d got the RC30 twin pedal at least. If you get a chance, a question. With the humoungous amount of gear you have ime sure your digital tech savvy! Can you add loopers in series, as in adding an RC30 in line with the RC3 ? Save me getting an RC50 next:/ My mics busted so to record line out recordings, not so much loop as complete songs too, ime having to face the computer at the amp and experiment, lol., Love drop G tuning, i have a lot of original stuff in that tuning, as well as drop D and DADGAD. Again, top work matey:)

I'll try to work a few others in. Getting familiar with the different loopers is definitely a task. In general, I would encourage you to try different ones and let each one expand your technique.
