I'm convinced the only real reason they use the gas masks is to remind us what's inverted and what isn't. It's an excellent cinematic marker.

They explain in the film that they use gas masks to supply oxygen, as when they're inverted, they would just be inhaling carbon dioxide instead.

@@darkspeed62 yes lol... We know why they use masks in the film. The point is, they actually put that into the film so people won't get mixed up as to when they're inverted and when they're not

@Aaron-x3

I think the use of masks was primarily used to hide the identity of Neil and the Protagonist in his earlier part of the time line. For posterity As in, it was a way to keep the Protagonist (the audience perspective) ignorant so the events can still happen with out spoilers until we're meant to find out. Much like the Protagonists entire first half of the temporal pinser or like the red(forward)team in the end not being allowed to see the blue(inverted) team. If they saw, things wouldn't have happened that way. Since they were ignorant of the future events, they played out as they did.
@dgold1985
@dgold1985 3 жыл бұрын
It also helped to mask out the mouth for scenes where inverted characters are talking normal but the world around them was backwards. To do this they would have had to film the actors talking backwards, which have looked weird when played in reverse. A fogged up mask solves that problem. They could just do ADR so you would have no idea the lip movement doesn't sync up.

Is it me or do they not explain in the film that when you go back it takes the same amount of time to go back to where you want to get to. All the scenes 'In the past' that we see through the damn glass happen exactly after the previous scene in the future, so it's confusing. It appears as though when they travel back/forward it takes no time at all.

Frankly, I felt bad for the guy at the end of the cheese grater. Seriously, the protagonist gave out such an ass-whipping that I felt sorry for the henchmen. They were just 3 henchmen trying to earn a dishonest living, when he goes-off on them. I mean some serious hospitalization. Finally, the crashing of the plane was over-rated. He simply leased a 747 that was on it's way to the 'boneyard.' The engines were long since removed. And notice you don't see any damage from fire what-so-ever to the plane.

I do wish he’d do something more character driven like Memento. That movie hits on an undeniably emotional level. I thought he balanced the ideas and character well in inception. But after that it seems like the characters arrive fully formed and change very little over the course of the films🤷‍♂️. Tenet is very entertaining now that I understand, thanks.

4:00 Wrong. Neil isn’t moving backwards there, only the bullet he catches is. If Neil was moving backwards you wouldn’t see him running away normally. 7:22 Sator isn’t mad at Kat for selling him a fake painting, he’s mad at her for cheating on him with an artist who happen to create that fake which she sold it to him. Sator therefore uses the fake painting as leverage in case Kat becomes unfaithful again.

@nickm8425
@nickm8425 4 жыл бұрын
So neils timeline is pretty simple, he begins as Kats son Maximillian, (neil spelled backwards get it?) anyway tag goes way back, saves him and his mom then gets basically raised by tag his whole adolescence learns all the time tricks with mini jumps prolly. And tag teaches him how to become a time jumper, then once hes an adult he begins taking large loops backwards helping tag along the way, prolly having a book of events and times he needs to help out (like the auditorium) and then begins playing out the whole movie forward for this couple days. Introducing tag to how time works helping a bit rescuing his mom etc and then, doing one more quick jump to catch a bullet meant for tag. Now watch it again.

Since in the car chase scene Sator is seen with the mask on how it is even possible for him to interact with not inverted P? And since KAT does not have a mask on that means she is not inverted, so how can Sator use her there? Another thing I cannot understand is that it seems that going back in time it is just a trip, because you cannot really alter any timeline as events unfold in one deterministic way no matter what. So how does Kat going back in time can influence the not inverted Kat and let hem think Sator cheated on her? Makes no sense because this is proof that time inversion is in fact changing the past and so the film finale is just a possibility it is not set in stone.

I thought it was cool I guess... but pretty devoid of emotion and humanity all in all. Everything flew by, and Nolan didn’t seem to be able to decide whether to explain the rules or just let the audience follow it intuitively. In my opinion, it’s rather telling that so many people didn’t understand the plot, and are watching KZbin videos explaining it afterwards. I mean, it’s interesting, but not very engaging while you’re actually seeing it. By contrast, the ending of Interstellar just blew me away. Everything in the movie, the sci-fi, the mystery, the character drama, mixed perfectly and just fucked my shit up. That’s a well done and satisfying experience right there.

Most of the movie I’m starting to understand but fuckkkk that whole heist scene and Sator’s plan is still kinda confusing. So everything that happened throughout the heist car scene is unchangable right? Is all we are doing is watching from everyone’s point of view?

This actually has the best time travel ever, all other big time travel films to it poorly, but TENET had no holes in explanation (except obviously how those chambers are created)

they’re going forward it time at that point, otherwise the guy cleaning up the mess from the glass cup with berries in it would’ve been reversed. he meant that cat & sator from the future(so inverted cat & sator) which are now going forward in time
