I wonder what is the meaning of this song. All I know is that Mapua a Vaea - from Houma and the song mention Vai ko Niutoua & Makamimisi which is NTT. Can someone explain.

This is a very sad love song, two lovers couldn't seal their love for one another on the altar, the girl has to obey the decision of her aunty to marry someone who is catholic rather than her true love. The man is from Houma, his name is Finau, the girls name was TINA from Niuatoputapu, the first letter of every verse spell her name. The song was composed by Tovo Opeti from Houma and first sung by Mapu a Vaea. She told me that, the day her aunty arranged for her wedding, she secretly arranged with Finau to run away and get marry too, so she was waiting, and in her heart who ever comes first to pick her up to go to the registration office will be her husband.
