Great video, but how much line should one use, and what if you have a level line and no loop or swivel? It would be nice to cover those topics as well.

For connecting your level line to your tippet, I just tie an overhand stopper knot at the end of my level line and tie my tippet on just like I do to a hook right behind that stopper knot. You can tie on a tippet ring as well if you have them.

When you wrap the line on the foam line holder, would it be more efficient to wrap the opposite way? Fly first and loop on the outside. This way you have the option of leaving the loop connected and you never have to unwrap everything just to find your loop.

either way will work just fine

I just tie a little perfection knot, and use only a 12 foot fly fishing leader no line or anything just leader and have no trouble at all. 👌🏻
@jaredspears7904 жыл бұрын
So you’re literally tying 12’ of leader to the Lillian? Then tying the fly to the end of the 12’ of leader? Just seeing if I’m reading this right.

Why make the Lillian so short? I know it is customary, but and extra two inches would make life so much easier. I just ordered a HELLbender and can't wait to try it out on the St Joe in North Idaho.

Slice up a pool noodle for multiple spools. I like to use maggots instead of a fly and use a small styrene indicator as a float. In Japan, bait is far more commonly used than artificials. Excellent tutorial too!

Why isn't the stopper knot pre-tied by the manufacturer at the end of the Lillian?
@DRAGONtailTenkara3 жыл бұрын
Because some people use a different method that does not use the stopper knot so we have to leave it off.

Can you put a drop of super glue on the stopper knot to keep it from untieing?
@richrose64285 жыл бұрын
It isn't necessary. The stopper knot (a simple overhand knot) will not untie.
@itisjustmedude5 жыл бұрын
@@richrose6428 you are correct, I didn't understand the value of being able to until the knot to take the segments apart and clean grit out of the rod. Thank you for helping to straighten me out. Tight lines and treeless casting to you.

12:10 So we can easily change of these zoom section by self in case of any broken segments? Isnt that right sir?
@DRAGONtailTenkara3 жыл бұрын
It is easly to slide out the zoom sections of the DRAGONtail rods if you need to replace or clean them. The NIRVANA 370z zoom section is tight but it does come out with some force.

Is level line the same as tippet?
@MrRick98825 ай бұрын
Why don't you tie the stopper knot before you send it?
@DRAGONtailTenkara4 ай бұрын
Because some people don't want it, they use a different method.

So with the right amount of energy, the stopping point in the case will see the rod perpendicular to the tangent of the arc and the line should fly on that tangent, right?

What's the best way to tie the furled line to the tippet? A nail knot? Surgeon's knot? Can I use a tippet ring at the end of the furled line?
@DRAGONtailTenkara4 жыл бұрын
the same knot you tie to your hook will work just fine, the tip of the furled line has a tippet ring to tie to.

How long is the line and tippet in tenkara fishing with 10ft. Rod?

It can vary but it is common to have the tenkara line the length of the rod plus the 3' of tippet.

Are the lines floating or sinking, or can you use both?
@DenverMagicanDennis5 жыл бұрын
The line it supposed to really be held above the water and allow the tippet and fly to sink. One of the big benefits to Tenkara is that you don't have to mend your line. There are floating lines on the market. I have allowed my line to drop into the water but only to maybe get a touch more depth.

Why does the manufacturer not tie the stopper knot into the lillian instead of letting the purchaser do this?
@jaypible56406 жыл бұрын
right? not very confident in that rig...
@Smoyf6 жыл бұрын
It's the most basic knot possible. Is it really that hard to take 5 seconds to do it?
@ArbitraryLifestyle6 жыл бұрын
Because if you use level line (highly recommend over furled line), you don't need a knot in the lillian.

when you rewind you are inserting twist in the line.
@BeefNEggs057 Жыл бұрын
It’s maybe 16’ and all in the air when you cast. Any line twist will untwist while casting. It’s short so twist isn’t that big a deal.
