My dad lost his arm in world war II. When he came back this was one of the streams that he fished. I was raised on streams like this where you were able to fish with a very short line which is what he needed. I'm glad it's still produces.

@Jessica Cannon I watched a few videos and headed up north a few days ago for the first time in 15 years. I camped in the woods and walked down to the lake. It didn't look right and a few people early in the morning told me the lake was fished out of trout. Then I went to a mountain creek the same size as this and just did boulder jumping. It was so beautiful, but I didn't bother to waste my time for some sardines.

Amazing! Inspirational! You truly have done a remarkable job in sharing the wonders of creation. I've done video and editing work for over 50 years and I know the time and effort it takes to produce even the shortest segments. Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us. Even though I'm 80 years old now you have inspired me to try "fly" fishing once again. I just received my line holders and assortment of wet and dry flies in the mail today. (what a Christmas present) In the past few weeks I have purchase my tenkara rod, level line, fly line backing, and 5x tippet. All as per your personal preferences. As soon as the weather cooperates, after about 40 years since last time "fly" fishing, I'm going to give it another try. Thanks to you I have been able to have a reason to live for yet a little while longer. Merry Christmas to you and your wife Cassie. May you be blest in your future endeavors. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your uplifting videos in the days ahead.

That rod seems pretty sweet. My tenkara rod is too long for creek fishing, but it's super fun to fish with. The simplicity of tenkara, delicate presentations, and effortless drag-free drifts make it so satisfying. If you ever get a chance, you should try tenkara rod fishing in saltwater. My Dragontail Hellbender could toss clousers easy and held up to rockfish, the biggest being 5lbs.

Hello! Great fishing! Incredible places in your videos. I just wanted to ask - do you have a practice to cook and eat caught fish or you fishing for fun only? I'm only interested, no more :) I live in middle Russia and I have one-two creeks not far of my location where I can find and caught the similar trout. (same little size :) 15inches is a record ) And, unfortunately, such fishing can had a big fine.
@TenkaraAddict3 жыл бұрын
No, I don't eat the fish. Just catch and release. Why the big fine?
@MaximAl_733 жыл бұрын
@@TenkaraAddict The creek trout listed in "Red Data Book of Russia" and have a "Rare" status - for this reason it's fishing is prohibited. The any licenses are not provided. Of course it is very upsetting, but sometimes some fishermans catch it for eat and such fines are necessary. That's so we live - fun and risky :) I self using this principle - catch and release :)

Tristan - thanks so much for these videos. They are some of my favorites to watch. The scenery is always spectacular. One question - Do you ever gut hook any fish and if so what do you do - cut the line and leave the hook in the fish or just work until you get the hook out? I guess using barbless hooks helps with this issue, huh? Anyways, here is hoping you have a fantastic Christmas and keep the videos coming to us newbies to your channel.
@TenkaraAddict3 жыл бұрын
It rarely happens. I've gut hooked a fish one time. I cut the tippet off as close to the eye of the hook as I could get and let the fish go. I couldn't reach the hook itself. Thanks for watching!
@russlehman20703 жыл бұрын
It's pretty unusual to gut hook a trout when fishing with flies or lures. Usually, the fish will try to spit out the fly or lure as soon as it tastes it and realizes it isn't actually food. It's more common to gut hook a fish if you fish with bait (worms, salmon eggs, etc.) It's somewhat more common with artificfials to get a hook into the gills (maybe one fish in fifty or so). With a standard barbed hook, it is almost impossible to unhook the fish without tearing the gills when this happens, which will be fatal for the fish. With a barbless hook, or a hook on which the barb has been pinched down with pliers, you can usually release a gill hooked fish.
