Thanks for another great adventure and rod test! One situation that recommends a stiffer short rod: heavy overhead vegetation, such as laurel and rhododendron “tunnels” here in the East. Too soft a rod requires too much “rod travel” to get a hook set. Grateful as ever for the miles you log and editing time you put in to bring us these videos - thank you again!

Our 4 year old grandson requests to watch you fish instead of Curious George....all we hear now is "fish on" and "see you buddy". I just bought this 6 foot goture extended rod, for 17.00 dollars. It has decent reviews and I am getting it on tuesday! I need a replacement rod until my new one comes. Tristan can you do a quick tutorial on rod issues, like the rod won't close and ways to get the rod to collapse?

I have the Tiny Ten 2, and I find it a great backpacking rod. Last fished with it in Boulder Creek and Caught lovely brook trout and a rainbow trout. Good quality rod with replacement parts available. I also fished the Aventik in Colorado and found that a good rod as well, especially when trying to get rods to fit in luggage. Your videos are awesome! Steve

Do you mind me asking what you are using for waders? Those look like they would pack well for hiking. Found this video while looking for a review on the Aventik Zeno, pleasantly surprised this in on the Tiny Ten 2. I bought a Tiny Ten 2 in 2020 or 2019. I love it, but it's a little stiff for me as I usually fish with short soft/slow flyrods. I became interested in tenkara rods for something that packs well for hiking trips.

Great video flick as always. As per brook trout, they are not trout and of the char family such as dolly varden, lake trout i.e mackinaw, et. al. They are much more aggressive and as you said will eat other trout out of house and home. The good of that is they are a very delicious fish, even the little 4 inchers. Gutted and pegged on a stick over an open fire or pan fried they make a great back country shore lunch. (A Firebox stick burner works great for the open fire. A Coleman 533 or Svea 123 with a small 6" Lodge cast iron pan when open fires are prohibited) I wouldn't feel bad harvesting and eating them where legal because as you say they are non native and often planted. Native cutty's and rainbows on the other hand always get released gently. They are too valuable a fish to be caught only once. As per that rod....SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!! Mahalo senor!

You have inspired me to again try Tenkara rod. I’ve been fly fishing for several years and tried Tenkara a couple of years ago. I was going to say after catching 16 trout in an hour and half...maybe every rod would feel good? Haha. :-). But Tenkara seems perfect for the small, freestone creeks. A little less interesting in the streams I have been primarily fishing here in the Midwest. I’m not sure, but I’ll give it a try again. Thanks for your videos!

FYI...I do enjoy the different spieces of course. And rods! I'm only one viewer and I view both your channels for the scenery of locations. Areas to visit and fish. My Objective is to be enjoying the Natural World with a Goal of catching a fish. Fishing and hiking are activities I do outdoors. I use to be an enthusiastic MTB but stopped when I was about 60. Closer to 70 now and completely enjoy the slower pace. I don't even carry camera any longer. I simply focus on being Present. Like I said, I'm just one viewer. My 2 cents: Ankle-high wool socks, trail runners (like the Salomon Speedcross) and shorts. Of course I don't wade when it's cold, but even fishing cold mountain streams like the one in this video your feet will go numb quickly and warm up just as quick when you get out. I don't mess with waders anymore, Tenkara fishing is about light and fast.
