Heupel has the TN rebuild probably a year ahead of schedule. TN has improved defensively each season, recruiting has improved each year, I think Heupel and his staff have built it the right way. They prioritize keeping players they want instead of going after big names in the portal. Keeping players allows for more development, consistency and buy in to the culture/program. Players have more pride than hired mercenaries from the portal. I think Heupel and his staff also are very good at budgeting their NIL funds as far as prioritizing key positions (QB, OL, DL (pass rushers) and offensive skill players. LB talent is improving but secondary players they don’t break the bank on compared to some other positions. QB, OL and WR is where a lot of the money goes on offense. Heupel doesn’t seem to need a 5* RB as his scheme creates a lot of advantages in the run game. On defense it’s DL with a stud pass rushers or two and a deep rotation of DL. LB’s seem to be getting more focus as TN is upgrading speed and athleticism. I think this past season proved two good starting CB’s and one who is an All SEC type CB really makes the defense really tough. Only position that isn’t really talented is the safety positions. I think there is a lot of room for improvement at those positions. Will Brooks was effective but maximized his ability last season. If we had a top talent who is faster, quicker and more athletic there were even more plays to be made and the middle would’ve been more difficult for offenses to attack.

May never happen if Nico leaves after this upcoming season unless TN plays Texas in the SECCG or in the playoffs. It is a game I would really like to see. TN vs Texas in the SECCG is very possible IMO. UGA and Bama will be playing new QB’s (get UGA in week 3 in Neyland and experienced QB’s struggle in Neyland let alone inexperienced QB’s). Nico in year 2 should be a significant advantage over a inexperienced QB making one of his first SEC road starts which happens to be in one of the toughest places to play in the country especially if it’s a night game. Bama and their QB situation I don’t have much confidence in. Maybe it’s Ty Simpson or Mack, maybe even the 5* freshman. Either way I don’t think any are going to play at a high level and if their run game isn’t significantly improved I’m not sure Bama will be consistent and effective against tougher defenses. Again Nico should give TN a significant advantage at the most important position…QB. Florida is the next to last game in late November. I think TN is still the better team overall. Lagway should be the best QB TN will see in the regular season and TN plays them in the Swamp. Lagway vs Nico could be a big time matchup between top tier SEC QB’s. Who knows what each teams health looks like by late November, which players have played beyond expectations and which have played below expectations. What is each team playing for? Is TN playing for a playoff spot and a possible SECCG? Is Florida playing for a bowl, maybe a playoff spot themself as beating TN would give them 9 or 10 wins and with their SOS it gets them in the conversation. I think TN should win 9 games. Then there is 3 tough games UGA, Bama and UF. Win 1 and TN is likely heading back to the playoff with another 10 win season. Win 2 and TN is probably in the SECCG and hosting a home playoff game. Win all 3 and i might consider putting a bad game plan together for the SECCG to get the advantage of the 5 seed in the playoff bracket while at the same time hopefully pissing my team off to where it lights a fire under them going into the playoff.

LOL well we can laugh at Michigan over this. But they’re in trouble. I live up here in Michigan. Michigan hopes to do what our lawyers did. I am not even sure they have Tennessee toughness. You know after Tennessee took belt to ass. The NCAA hired more lawyers. We will see. But I think they will take Michigan’s National Championship away. I wish them good luck though.

There wasn't anything wrong with the quarterback play LAST year. We had a bunch of receivers that could not run routes OR get open. Our receiver corps play like; "Boy I sure hope I don't get hurt today."

Ohio State blew out basically everyone in the playoff. Their final score against TN may have been their largest margin of victory but they jumped out to a big lead on Oregon and Notre Dame to where they really just needed to run clock offensively in the second half allowing for the final score to look closer than it really was. TN at least battled back and made it somewhat of a ball game going into halftime. If TN had played anyone else besides Ohio State I think TN could’ve won and if not would’ve played a very close and competitive game. I think TN beats UGA without Beck on a neutral field, I think TN would’ve matched up well with Penn St and ND. Oregon would’ve been tough but they didn’t fare much better against Ohio State so I feel like TN could’ve maybe been more physical and established an effective run game. Arizona we would’ve matched up well with as we would’ve held their run game in check. Clemson I think TN would’ve beaten. Texas would’ve been a tough matchup I think it would’ve been a rock fight with Texas ultimately making a few more plays in the passing game. Important to remember Nico was the least experienced QB of the teams that made the playoffs. The season and experience he gained last season will be huge for his development and will be one of the biggest reasons he takes a leap in his improvement between year 1 and 2. Nico managed the game and made sure not to lose TN games last season for the most part. He still made enough plays for TN when they absolutely needed him to which ended up being just enough to get the win. Arkansas is the only game where he didn’t that was close. I thought he played pretty well against UGA on the road as he kept us in it (1 score game until late in the 4th). I would’ve liked to have seen him try to push the ball down the field a little more as it’s hard to have success with a long methodical drive of 10+ plays against UGA on the road. Really need an explosive play or two on offense. Hopefully he improves in that area this coming season. Maybe it has to do with the WR’s not getting open, maybe the protection, maybe he was just taking what was there or really focusing on protecting the football and not turning it over. I see many in the media dismissing Nico as some are putting Pavia or Jackson Arnold ahead of him. That’s crazy IMO. Nico has elite talent and now has experience. Experience is usually a very big part of improving. Sellers was playing well last year but it’s hard to argue Nico doesn’t have a much higher ceiling. Arnold is going to a new offense, Pavia I think caught some by surprise, even players like Beck, Klubnik and Nussmeier who have experience and talented skill players don’t have Nico’s talent. Nico’s ceiling is higher than all three of those players. Thing is I think Nico’s floor isn’t far off from them either. Nico is going to lead TN to a 10+ win regular season. I really feel like TN wins 11 and 15-2 total. One loss in the regular season and lose the SECCG. TN loses the SECCG to Texas but gets revenge beating Texas in the rematch in the playoffs to win the natty. Texas wins the SEC title but TN wins the big one.

I disagree. That transfer rb, along with Lewis and the 2nd string will do fine. They got 2 o lineman in the portal. Defense returns a ton. We have the exact same schedule just locations flopped. Should be 10-2 or even 11-1. Also still have the spring portal to fill gaps.
