More families than you might think are struggling to put food on the table. New federal data shows Tennesseans find it harder than people in most other states.

Right? I'd drive a little out of my way to throw them some extra business. Good people deserve all the business they can get.🍻

Is that why piggly wiggles prices are so high,to help people? Their prices are higher than Kroger! Reason i don't shop either store!

Those are good people. That store has had troubles, but they're all some folks have around there. It's damn good of them to try to help instead of take advantage of people. That makes me want to go out of my way to give them some extra business.

Food Desert? Hg hills and Walmart down the road
@wirelesmike737 ай бұрын
That's a long way to walk, especially for the elderly and disabled, especially with so many spots that have no sidewalks. And, Walmart is on the other side of two main interstate systems. Why don't you walk to Walmart from that Piggly Wiggly and back with all your groceries, then talk about how "easy" that part of town has it? Yes, parts of East Nashville are food deserts. And, the further north, the worse it is, till you get to Goodletsville.

@@wirelesmike73Maybe there families should step up and help out.
@wirelesmike737 ай бұрын
@@michaelthomas5367 Maybe so. But, not everybody has family to ask for help. Not all families are on good terms with one another. Sometimes, family members can't be trusted. Sometimes, family members take advantage of relatives who are elderly or in need... Neighbors, too. And, sometimes, people just want to maintain a little independence in their lives. They may not mind walking 5 or 10 minutes away to make due for themselves. But more than that is not safe, and often just not doable. I don't understand your seemingly personal issue with it being pointed out that food deserts are a thing that exist in cities, and in rural communities alike. Your point of view seems naive, or just plain apathetic. Your comment indicates that you don't even really know what the term means, or what measures constitute the classification of it. Maybe you should do some investigation on a subject before casting such a strong opinion. Or otherwise, just not opine on things you have no real understanding of.

@@julialane6645 Oh, please. Inflation is down, the GDP is 4.9 and unemployment is the lowest it's ever been, EVER. That's Biden's America. The biggest problem this country has right now is Republicans and right-wing Christo-fascists. MAGA is a cancer, and the Republican party is a criminal organization.
