Marshmallow circus peanuts (banana) is what you were referring to and I've always described that banana note in jack daniels as that. Everyone else says banana runts or just banana in general.

The barrels have changed dramatically. The stills are run too fast these days and the corn isn't as flavorful. You can have the new JD. I drank it all my life until about 5 years ago. I wouldn't drink the new stuff for free. I'll take some Rittenhouse Rye instead 😊
