Breaking racquets is disgraceful. They should make the players play on with the broken racquets until the end of the match.

What exactly is disgraceful about it? It's their property, it's not hurting anybody else, they have a short shelf life anyway (people forget this, top 100 pros don't reuse the same frames for very long).

@@grimson it is dangerous. Shards can fly up into the eyes of a ball kid or line judge standing nearby, as well as potential damage to the court and potential injury to the player. Tennis is a frustrating game at times but people just need to learn to control themselves. I think breaking racquets is disgraceful, that is just my opinion and everyone has the right to disagree. I just think it is unsportsmanlike and, I stand by my opinion, dangerous.

It’s very sad to see the selfish exhibitionists destroying good quality rackets! There are many tennis players who cannot get a sponsorship and would love to own one of the ‘smashed rackets. Don’t blame the tools for your shortcomings! Maybe one day a manufacturer will produce the ‘ unsmashable’ racket!

I was really pleased to read that. Smashing your racquet isn't great, but encouraging the crowd to cheer after your opponent's racquet smash is messed up.

i hate it when players feel that have to bust their racquets. At the cost they are, wouldn't t be better just to give it to a kid in the audience if they feel they cant play with it?

I highly doubt that breaking a racquet is about the racquet itself most of the time. It's simlpy the first thing "at hand" to put your frustration into

What about this, you break the racquet but then keep playing with it? I think the rule is you get coded after changing racquets

u can change rackets tho, if u dont break your racket. But u got a point. If he just throws the racket and keeps playing, no code. but if he throws and it cracks and he has to change, I dont know, but very likely code
