Hello Ann. They do have an advantage with some of their shots. But even tennis players have to transition to pickleball strategy if they ever hope to play their best.

Played pickleball for the first time as a tennis player and now understand the problems I was having. I couldn’t understand why I was having so much trouble at the baseline when that’s my strength in tennis. At the kitchen with my typically continental, almost 0 problems, but on my ground strokes at the baseline I was doing everything you said. Had a semi western, full swing with a wiper motion trying to get all the topspin. I naturally started just hitting with a continental because it was really bad and that helped, but I will try again now knowing this

With the plastic ball and racquet face being so slick, it’s much more difficult to hit shots with consistent top spin, forcing you to take some pace off the ball.

Pickleball to tennis is like comparing golf to miniature golf there is no comparison! Play tennis with a lower compression tennis ball or play cross court only if mobility is an issue! I left my tennis club now that pickleball outnumbers tennis courts! Americans want the path of least resistance instead of a challenge! Played tennis for 40 years and have only moved up one level while I’ve heard there is hardly any learning curve with pickleball!

Coming from tennis, pickleball is alot easier to get started. Tennis not so much. But going anywhere above 3.5 pickleball is a totally different and you cannot play it like tennis. So much strategy. It's a soft game where control of the kitchen is key. I find I can be competitive in pickleball at my skill level. Not so much in tennis. Also, last comment from me: I am playing a lot more pickleball than I ever played tennis, that is a win in my book for just plain exercise

The balls fly off the racquet!! I’ve only ever done it on a Pickleball court. so I’m not sure how far they would carry on a tennis court. But I know the muzzle velocity of the balls will be high!
