It seems like you feel like this video supports that thesis. But what happened is that two (much!) bigger, faster, stronger players with a ton of transferrable skills and several months of practice beat two (much) smaller, weaker, slower players who had a lot more experience. Characterizing it as more than that is a stretch at best.

If you have played any sport, you know that your athleticism and stamina is determined by the level of your opponent. Soccer players can jog around for hours if their opponents don't actually make them exert effort and energy. Meanwhile, you can see professional Soccer players getting winded by half-time because they are being marked so hard. Same goes for every other sport. If you played Pickleball and didn't get a little winded, you didn't play Pickleball, you hit the ball around lol

She is right, that's why the games are shorter because points get scored super quick. In tennis rallies last for minutes, very rare in pickleball. That's the reason pro singles pickle ball match is 2 hours at max and tennis can go upto 4 hours or more even.
@michaelmcleod6203
@michaelmcleod6203 11 ай бұрын
@@DearDextraNone of this is true. Tennis rallies are usually short with points being finished within 2 to 3 hits from each players. Pickleball rallies tend to have more hits per rally. However, tennis tends to have more down time between points and between a first and second serve which doesn't happen in pickleball. Extended rallies are not the norm in tennis, but it's cool when they happen. Also, the scoring is entirely different, so comparing the amount of time for a match is just silly.

One of them said I was the best pickleball player he's played against before I told him I had never played before. It took a little adjusting wrt length of racket / paddle, bounce and weight of the ball, spin and bounce of the ball off the racket, but the game was much slower and easy to adjust to as time progressed. I actually looked like I knew what I was doing in the beginning before it actually became a reality. The game was more easy to adjust to than the rules.

Tennis player here and a future pickleball player. I tried pickleball once and I can appreciate why all ages can play this game. You really don't need to cover much court and doesn't require must skill. Pickleball is great because there are so many to play with and is a much more casual sport. In tennis, there are much less players. The level of skill is 10 times higher and very frustrating to new players. It does not matter how athletic you are. It takes months to be half decent. And years to be highly competitive. I'm going to keep playing tennis until I can't play it anymore or if I can't find people to play with. I'll be ready for pickleball at 65. The one thing I am surprised to see is that players don't try to crush the ball with topspin or to hit topspin lobs towards the backline. Wondering why not?

This comment is definitely coming from an area of hate and trying to condescend. Is tennis more intense than pickleball? Yes. Agreed. Doesn’t make it not a sport. Is basketball more intense than tennis? Yes, ballers are way more atheistic. Does that mean tennis isn’t a sport? No. Can you drink and laugh while playing tennis, yes. I’ve played basketball and laughed and drank. For you to say pickleball isn’t a sport because your personal bias towards tennis is greater, is such an asinine comment. How about only MMA is a real sport because everything else is below it in terms of of aggressiveness and manliness. Or we can just listen to @markconnor5341 ‘s definition based on what he believes is a sport or not.

This is just a lose-lose situation for sock and isner. If they lost, people would be clowning on them for losing to women, but if they won, it would be expected and people would question why they didn’t go “easy” on them. You can clearly see them not hitting as hard as they can, it’s funny.

@@DanKaschel I definitely don't think the statement is accurate. Look how they adjusted from set 1 to the last two, they clearly had to adjust to playing this game at that level. They have more to learn about the sport than the pros so they would learn at a faster rate because they've played the game way less than them. So not only would it not be a 1/50, they would win more and more as they played more matches because they have so much to learn.

I love playing pickleball, but the truth is that pickleball is far easier than tennis. That is why we are seeing these former tennis players crush pickleball players. Let's not pretend that's not true. But we need to stop putting each other down for the difficulty of it. If you enjoy a sport and have fun doing it, then do it and don't listen to anyone else trying to make you feel like your "out of shape" or "unathletic". Pickleball is a great sport. Tennis is a great sport. Can we all just have fun?
