She has always been a great person. I really like watching her matches especially those against Monica. They were great champions 😊

Wonderful interview. Really shows what a great personality and athlete she was. One mystery is the bunch of incel-like crazy male fans her introverted, held back demeanor would unintentionally generate, one committing suicide in front of her, another one harassing her for years and stabbing her main rival, and some of you guys in the comments section of every video. Scary.

Don‘t forget that in Steffi‘s heyday 60-70 % of tennis fans were Steffi fans. Therefore about 40-50 % of all incels were Steffi fans as well. Stark contrast to Seles - only 5 % of all fans but 30 % of incels were Seles fans. Or Navratilova - 10 % of all fans but 65 % of gay fans were Nav fans. Steffi had the remaining 35 %, most of them lesbians (Steffi made many young girls lesbian!).

That's absolutely spot on and very perceptive. You do very much still see some of them in these comments sections, decades later. Steffi sadly by no means the only female player who attracted such obsessive weirdos. Martina Hingis had a stalker while still a teenager who waited outside her house and followed her from tournament to tournament, forcing her to hire a bodyguard. He was later convicted in court for stalking.

At her peak Graf was far bigger global star than Serena or Sharapova.

@@rajusaha855 There is a video on YT (I think a part of the wonderful documentary her brother made about her) where Steffi tried to buy shoes in Paris. And got mobbed so much by fans and autograph seekers that the shoe shop had to close its doors for a while. The same with Navratilova, Seles or Serena? Unthinkable.

@@carrerau7138 The same would definetly happen with Serena and probably even more. She's the most recongisable female athlete on earth. Imagine serena walking around paris it would actually be dangerous, to say "unthinkable" is proposterous and you know it

The first part of this video is from 1997... Steffi's horror year. She came back to the Australian Open - as the undeniable #1 (having won 3 GS in 1996) and went out in R4. After that... her knee acted up... she tried to save the season by not playing in the spring... she won 1 tournament before the FO where she also exited early and then retired the season. She came back in February of 1998. I hate the year 1997 for the sole reason of Steffi Graf not being able to play.

Do you think Steffi underestimated her own beauty & sex appeal??? She never promoted that part like a Sharapova or a Kournikova did.🤔🤔
@carrerau7138 Жыл бұрын
@@rajusaha855 I think it made her uncomfortable. She wanted to be the best player, not the sexiest one. However, for many male fans she was both.
