Anyone criticising you regarding the money is not thinking it through! You’re clearly doing the KZbin stuff as a full time job which is helping you live your dream. You’re a very impressive young man who is finding a way to make this happen for yourself. In my opinion, the improvement from 2022 to 2023 tells me that you’ll make top 1000 with ease by end of 2024. I reckon a bit higher than that actually! Getting on the rankings is half the battle then you start getting better seedings in qualies - giving you more chances to pick up points. You’ve got this Felix!

Impressive stuff. Great to see someone transparently showing what it takes to survive on the Futures tour. Hopefully the ATP/ITF will start finding a way to support the lower ranked tour players as it’s mind blowing how few professionals actually can turn a profit in tennis.

the only way is to take money off the winners and runners up etc. prize money and spread it around. The top players earn money off endorsement and sponsorship anyway For the lower tier players some sort of support on travel and hotels would make it easier for players to get around.

Tennis has one of the lowest revenue distributions to athletes in all of sports at 17.5%, in most sports its around 50%

The main problem is that low level tournaments dont fill up the stadiums like say a local team sport would do. Here in canada we have very profitable junior hockey games but the players are paid a salary and they move around in a team bus. Its by no way a means to earn a living but this is just a sport after all. Making it to the big leagues is where the money really starts pouring in. Its ok to have a dream and take the sport seriously but always remember that there is more to life than the sport.

Your last episode I literally shed a few tears for your achieving an ATP point. I coached tennis for over twenty years of my life and I know what a miracle it is just to get to the college level and I know how hard you had to work. I don't know you but I'm truly so proud of what you've accomplished and I think you can continue to rise up the ranks. A lot of things are in place for you to do so. If you add a more shaped heavy ball for variety on your groundstrokes (in the right moments) while continuing to stay aggressive at the same time, the sky is the limit...and also continue to work on your quickness. Can't wait to see you another year or two from now!

Wow, $125 per training day is really good. Coaches here charge $150/hr. The biggest commitment/cost is really your time, the opportunity costs of studying for college or working. Thank you very much for sharing your journey and the information is really helpful. Good luck to your journey!

What I would like to know is. How many points do you need (aproximately) to get directly into futures main draws? I know it depends on the tornament but i guess it is not that different. And I don't really think the point changes your situation a lot, right? Except maybe seeding in qualies. Anyways, congrats, your progress in the last months has been pretty good and even if it doesn't make a lot of difference in your seeding, i'm sure it has to be a really special thing to be able to see yourself in the ranks for the very first time. Even thought I've enjoyed this journey, I hope the road to top 1000 is shorter.
