The 290g version of Rafa racket, still have like 326 swing weight strung so really good racket only need add some weight in handle if you guys like whip the more ball.

Going back to something more like the original Aeroprodrives is something I hoped for for years. Love the denser string pattern. Every model after the original has been, IMO, a step down, culminating in the truly awful 2019 version--a ball-flinging, string-eating nightmare. (The VS was good, though.) The versions now on the market are very fine racquets. Well done, Babolat!

A guy at my local club has the banana and he wasnt a very good player but chewed strings almost weekly. Switched to the newest aero and doesnt break so often

I've just bought recently one Babolat Pure Aero VS and I am loving it, i've been playing with the pro staff 97 V10 for almost 7 years and I am going to switch to the Aero 98

I'm using the 98 and like it all. I agree it doesn't have a great feeling, and perhaps could benefit from a bit more weight but the results of me playing it are really good. I would consider it to be a rather undemanding 98 racquet providing a lot of stability and access to controllable power and spin. I'm yet to find a string that would improve how it feels but I think it should work with a hybrid in which I would put a thinner poly in the mains (1,23mm?) and sth a bit softer and thicker in the crosses, or a softer poly thought.

Haven’t tried the 100 but the 98 is amazing except for two things for my taste: the hollow/plasticky feel, and how hard it is to use (can’t be late or hold back or it shoots the ball to the back fence)

I still think the PA 2016 is the best one, but I prefer a really powerful racket, so that's probably why.

At thw end of the day is a matter of personal preference, i have had the apd original, then the 3rd version and the 5th and lastly the 2019 banana. For me the banana is the best, if i want more control i would go with another raquet like the aero vs which i also have. But when i want to blast the ball i go with the banana

Does Mantis tennis still make racquets in the UK? I've seen a lot of used racquets on eBay and some overstock racquets like the Mantis 250 CS II and Mantis Tour 305. There doesn't seem to be any tennis shops in the USA selling this small brand right now. Understand they had their heyday from 2011-2016. Jonas did a review of the Mantis 300 PS III back in 2020. Tracking these are low power and control oriented sticks.

The 'skateboard' Aero cosmetic is also used by Alex Michelsen and despite a few Italian players sporting the cosmetic they and a number of others are just using 100 older 'banana' stocks though this should come as nil shock.. Aero 98 is popular and a lot of one handers are taking it up and I am noticing more hitters trialing current and older Aero 98 versions. There is a large and loyal group of Pure Aero 100 users who are nearly always teenager double handers. It is good though that there is now a distinction in Aero brand with the Rafa like mould, Pure Aero 100 and Pure Aero 98. They should keep the Extended range which a few players also use. What is good with focus to older Rafa moulds is that actual older moulds are re-appearing. Its incredible though what Rune and Alcaraz can do with Aero 98s

Hi Jonas, thanks for the great content 👍🏻 I also play with the pure aero 2023. Would you recommend a 1.25 or 1.20 string gauge? Considering the denser string pattern.
@Tennisnerd
@Tennisnerd 7 ай бұрын
Hey Nicolas, thanks! It depends on the string, a stiffer string can work in 1.20, but a softer or medium soft string should ideally be thicker.

Anyone compared the PA98/PA VS and the 2022 Dunlop SX300 Tour? Similar specs but the dunlop is half the price. Thanks

Which one do you think is the best Jonas racket? aero vs 2020 or aero 98 2023? I think the vs feels better and more direct... for an aggressive baseline player, thank you very much and happy new year friend 🎁

How would you recommend specing the lighter pure aero rafa? I'm an intermediate player that has played with lead tape before on my rackets, but I'm trying to decide between the pure aero 98 and the pure aero rafa. Thanks!

Is the Rafa 290g version also a new frame like the Aero 100 & 98 or is it an older model with Rafa cosmetics?

Re- Where Rafa is at: Well he has had HEAPS of Warmup and Practices now especially in the hotter conditons of Brisbane than Melbourne. Qld is over-heated and Brisbane at this time of year can and will be a horrid over-humid hothole compared to more dry heat of Victoria. I just watched Rafa and Lopez in doubles vs actual Doubles Specialists Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson. Rafa made good forehands and serves but he and Lopez were just outmatched despite some good points. Did not see any kind of injury or physical troubles for Rafa and in his practice matches and hitting sessions now with Shelton, Rune, Murray and Thiem in Brisbane he has been doing well. Infact Rune has said it was his hardest session ever. So Rafa will be ready to play Thiem(and likewise Dominic after his 2 matches is ready) and after that will have to see

Hello! I have a question. I play with poly tour rev at 55lbs in my RF97 but it still feels a bit too overpowered. I wanna try 4g and avoid this issue, what tension should I try, and should even try 4g maybe 4g soft?

I have the PureAero 2016 (not the banana 2019, but still yellow) and the current iteration PA (100 inch). I really like the current one. Definitely a bit more controlled , more directional control, still lots of spin and in my opinion better feel (probably easier on the arm also, though I never really had any arm issues with any babolat, be it PD, PA or PS). I really feel I can go a little more for my shots with this current PA. Also the slice is much better with this new Aero (and the volleys). I'd love to try the PA 98 (if I can get my hands on it :D).

Raffa said, he still has pain (foot) and it never will go away for the rest of his life. I think, he mayby can win some games, but the level is to high for a grand slam titel.

I'd have to think the main reason Rafa is coming back is to try to close the gap between him and Joker, but I definitely think Rafa can win another French Open!
