Thom's videos just get better with each upload, the animation, the presentation, the fact that he doesn't use his facecam for most of the video, it's like I'm witnessing the growth of a content creator who's passion is to explain the stories and meanings of concept albums through animation and theories. And compared to the Wolf Trilogy video, there were a lot less jokes than on that video which would make me think that Thom's next few videos will be serious entirely. Just a theory but during the roll out everyone kept tweeting Roscoe wetsuit and tons of people did without really knowing the meaning. Thats the same way BTI is we search for meaning in it because we want the album to mean something to give purpose but it doesn’t so Roscoe’s Wetsuit intentionally doesn’t mean anything it’s just people on the internet who retweeted it made it out to be something that never was. So in a way it’s symbolic for life it doesn’t have a meaning or purpose but not everything has to like a wetsuit.

Now, I don't agree when he calls this "the OK Computer of rap", but the themes of isolation, alienation and technology are so remacably well established here that you can't help but give him credit for reflecting so well the constantly fast-phased lifestyle we're living in this modern age. i have always loved this album, especially more in recent years. one of my favorite tracks is No Exit. when i first heard it, there was this ugly claustrophobic feeling. there was an underlying feeling of panic and hyper self-analyzation. i never knew there was a written screenplay that goes with this album and when you described the scenes that happened after the No Exit track it made sense to why i liked it so much even when it has such a strong feeling with it. thank you for making such a good video on something that came out 11 years ago, thank you for putting it together with the screenplay. you did an amazing job (i also really loved the animations that you put in)

I would like to say great work as always. I've really enjoyed your breakdowns of albums and really appreciate this one. I'm one of those Community fans who was casually intrigued by Childish Gambino as a result. I wouldn't say I was obsessed, but I remember the weekend "Because the Internet" came out and not feeling like I got it. I was aware it was multimedia in a sense, but I wasn't wanting to put in the work. I think I'd put myself in the "flop" category with this one and was surprised that it kept coming back around. I think it's popular enough that I have been curious to revisit it, but with the right context this time. Short of actually doing that, the video did make me think of how the story is just how some people lose their identity online. I feel like I got that way during the pandemic and basically was disconnected from reality. I was addicted to social media and that rush of response/validation. I eventually had to cut back on it and I think I've slowly figured out who I am again because I'm not trying to be the version of me that pleases complete strangers. I am myself. With that said, the internet has all the answers and none of them at the same time. I agree an easy read of this is that the answer is meaningless, but at the same time I think it's a metaphorical desire for Donald Glover to rid himself of his fictional self that has caused him an anguish I recognize in my own journey. A detail I remember from around then (?) is Glover removing his social media. Not sure if it lines up with the larger narrative, but I think it speaks to his need to cut free of the artifice for the sake of his own creativity and health. I'd argue he's gotten much better since he's done it, or at least more confident. I apologize if that's missing the point of the actual album. I haven't listened to it in over a decade, but your video has me curious to give it another go. I'm hoping I'll like it more.
