I absolutely get what you mean with the Klavdia - Evangelia comparison. I remember when the songs came out Evangelia had a huge lead in all the polls and odds, whereas now the tables have turned and Klavdia is the huge favourite. Asteromáta for the win!❤

Vale is very catchy and an earworm but, like Karnaval in Albania, doesn’t stand out against songs that grab me more. Play it could be fun if it works live. Asteromata is my favourite, by quite some way.

Evangelia also reminded me of Elvana, national popstar with many fans dropping a football anthem kind of song. But much like with Elvana, her song unfortunately doesn't convince me. Asteromata is amazing and I can definitely see it do well at Eurovision, but my personal favorite is Play It! I doubt it's gonna win but it sounds very Efendi so I'm automatically in love 😭Can't help it! Gi Mou is very underrated imo and Elevator is a guilty pleasure, my shoulders were bopping along to it on their own. I know a lot of people hate it but I like having one quirky/funny song in a NF that doesn't take itself too seriously just to mix things up! PS: I think Georgina and John are taking the high road

I don't know if someone has said this already yet but Αστερομάτα means "Starry-eyed" (the female form), not constellation. The feel of the song is about comforting someone (like a daughter-to-mother mother-to-daughter relationship). Also the violin-like string you like Tom, is a type of lyra! The most usual ones are cretian and pontic lyras. ^^ A couple of extra facts about our Greek National Final this year: from the news available, preparations for the staging will be done by Fokas Evaggelinos (who directed Satti last year among other entries) and have started since the songs got released to the public, which isn't a lot of time. I'm guessing the performances we'll see on the 30th won't be the final ones and there will be room to improve on both the winning song and performance until ESC 2025!

Just a little guide on how to read greek names and words: D because it replaces Δ should be pronounced like th in then , Ch is used to replace X which sounds like H in Harris and G is never like in Gelato, as to which is correct is difficult to describe but in the case of Evangelia is Eva- ge as in get- lia

As you may remember I was huge fan of Marina Satti's "Zari" last year, and I don't really think I like any of these as much. Klavdia comes close though; I think it's very beautiful and if she's vocally good live this could be quite magical. I see why people like "Vále" and it's a nice mix of modern and traditional, but I must say it sounds too much like a Greek version of "Pepas" by Farruko.

That elevator song honestly feels like it could have come from Latvia/Romania/Moldova/Lithuania circa 2005-2010, and kinda falls in to the region of 'Change' by Hotel FM, or 'The Love Power' by the KMG's in 2007. Quirky, but ultimately non-competitive and not right for Eurovision. My favourites are Klavdia & Evangelia. Both are head and shoulder above the other competitors efforts. Wouldnt be mad if either of those won.

Yessss! I was waiting for this reaction!! Glad you've enjoyed so many of the songs. I want Evangelia or Dinamiss to win, but Klavdia has stable vocals and the song is more meaningful. But I personally love dance songs and I think Evangelia or Dinamiss would make a great show. Klavdia would have to rely too much on the staging, which I know we are not as good at. Dinamiss are not very strong with vocals, although they're really good dancers. Evangelia I think has great balance between vocals and dance moves and maybe she can pull it off

It's only logical that you find Evangelia's song more graping at first, because you are from western Europe and used to this sound, but majority of Greeks dig Clavdia's song, because it carries some very original Greek sound and lyrics. I'd be very surprised if Greeks will vote for Evangelia over Klavdia, unless of course something fishy is going on due to Evangelia being a big name in Greece

I am pretty sure you realized that we are not aiming very high this year. 11 out of the 12 songs have nothing new, nothing that can stand as a decent representation for ESC. I can guess that "Vale" might easily end as a new hit for football fans as it is football anthem mostly and it's catchy phrase "vale ki allo" also means "score again" in Greek. Klavdia is the only decent one and has no need for great stage tricks. You must see Asteromata's lyrics and if you do, you will get what every Greek feels listening to it. ESC Norway did listen to it with lyrics.For me and for the most of people, Klavdia is the one. There is a very small chance it might have the luck of Portugal's "Amar pelos dois", or even "De Diepte". But wait... Elections of any kind of subject in Greece have proved that they easily bring surprises. So we might go up and down with elevator at the end.

Many interesting songs. Nafsika is interesting, I need to listen to her again; Thanos is good, has a nice voice, but he sounds more American than Americans themselves... I understand that this may be his personal musical taste, many people like American rock, but he is going to represent Greece, not the US... I do like Kalais and Vlaseros but once again we have a very American genre sung with a marked American style. Xan - Sorry, but I like her song. Not my usual cup of tea, but well constructed. Of course, much will depend on how she does it live. Christophorou and Karafotis... I cannot resist this genre, with so many traditional sounds Rikki - a grower... looks like a joke at first, but it isn't.

After the witch hunt that the greek media executed against Marina Satti last year and the literal abuse the artists in general suffered I don't expect any big names will be interested in participating in our National Final and Eurovision by extension any time soon which Is really a shame. 2025 in general feels like a weaker year and our National Final seems like no exception. The songs sound all extremely dated and / or have zero national identity in them. Asteromáta is the one standout track but even then I personally don't 100% connect with it (yet?) I was surprised over the last few years by various non-greek people constantly asking for Evangelia because I had no idea how everybody seemed to know who she was 😂 I learned of her FROM Eurofans before I listened to any of her songs in Greece itself! She did have that one song with Eleni Foureira so maybe that's how? In any case, the song sounds extremely 2010 world cup... But damn if that chorus ain't catchy! Odyssey and Play It! are also my personal guilty pleasures

Being a big fan of Cyprus girly pop/dance entries (2012, 18, 21, 24 and above all "Replay" 2019), I quite unsurprisingly love Xannova Xan (a Greek-American, she represented Greece in JESC 2005 as Kalli) and also Barbz (the most 2020-ish entry of all, she is Greek-American too, already 3 of them with Evangelia!). These 2 are my joint # 1. I also love Nafsika, a very beautiful Eurovision ballad, and my top-5 is completed with Andy and Dinamiss. Tbh I am not very much into ethnic although (or maybe because 😂 ) I am Greek (born in NYC and raised in Paris). This said, I believe that Asteromata is the most convincing entry among the ethnic ones (I almost wrote "tourism-promotional" 😅) and will probably win (ofc in May it will join Ramonda, Veronika etc at the places below 17 or 18!). My least favorite ones are Lambrou (I prefer his Cypriot namesake!), the High Road duet, Elevator and Karafotis-Christoforou (the latter has already represented Cyprus 3 times). Last but not least, Evangelia kinda disappointed me, her song is messy and all over the place, her other songs (especially the duet with Eleni Foureira) are much more uplifting imo, although I can see why she is one of the 2 big faves. Many fans compare her to Elvana, but imo Karnaval was much better!
